It's FANTASTIC if you pick a military friendly school with PAID VA advisors on staff. It makes a huge difference.

Man I'd kill for a tuition.

YOU WILL‽

The gi bill is dope. It might be the only benefit that actually works tho.

But when you go to your schools advisor to confirm your military/school attendance we’re going to put some civilians in charge who have no idea how to submit anything to the federal government

But ya, once you get it working, it is a godsend

GI bill was sick. Got my AA while active duty using Tuition Assistance. Got out and managed to finish both my BA and got an MBA with the post-9/11 GI bill with just days left on it

Truly the greatest benefit, hands down. And they pay for private schools too...did my bachelor's and then turned around and went to SANS for cyber.

I loved paying $50 a check for it for my first year. That didn’t hurt at all.

I’m using mine now, there’s also the VR&E program that pays for school if you’re more than 10% disabled. I finished my bachelor’s through the VR&E program and am using the GI bill for a masters degree in counseling.

Pretty accurate. GI Bill is one of the few things that the VA manages without too much drama.

Yeah dude, this shit literally sustained me after I got out while looking for a job. I got paid to better myself.

I used some of it here at the community College and got my associates degree. I really had no problem. There was a VA adviser here that helped fill out the paperwork. All they needed from me was my benefits letter and immunization records.

One of the few things without negative side effects

Yes, just find a school that is military friendly and has an experienced staff who knows the loopholes to extend your benefits. I got a Bach and Masters on post 9/11 GI bill. I paid for 1 semester out of pocket.

It's so great. It's been helping my family so much. My husband and I are finally getting degrees in things we want.

I used it in the late 90's. The GI bill used to be under the financial aid cap, so there was no economic difference for having served. Then in 99 or 98 they pulled it out from under the cap, and that made a huge difference.

That's pretty accurate as long as you can do 4 years, not to mention if you use your post 9/11 gi bill but paid for the Montgomery and didn't use it you get your 1200 back. To help you gotta make sure the yellow ribbon program is good at a school though
