We chose the RAV4 hybrid because we live in the country and wanted a full size spare and this was the best available didn’t want to trust a spare 80kph or the emergency kits on 110kph highways

But why didn’t you choose the RAV Prime? Comparing a PHEV with HEVs is not very fair. It would have been fairer for either an HEV only comparison or PHEV’s. PHEV’s will definitely have better acceleration and range. Unless the intention was to show the weakness or strength of one system when benchmarked to the other.
However, other criteria test was great.

The Outlander looks pretty good, but no spare tyre is a deal breaker for me. Most people aren’t lucky enough to have a flat tyre right outside Jax on a weekday morning.

I tested outlander phev a few weeks ago. It did impress me a lot, but if you think about this car carefully you will understand how silly it is to buy a phev. Basically, if you use petrol, then you have to carry on a big heavy (almost 200 kgs) battery which will reduce car’s controllability and will increase petrol consumption comparing with any petrol outlander (not phev). If you wish to use electricity only, then you need to plug the car in almost every night and you still will have to carry on a very heavy petrol engine which you are not even using. So, for phev version you have to pay almost $17K more and will have to plug the car in every night! You better buy a fully electric car or a petrol, but not a phev…

The Rav4 is not the 2023 model. All new 2023 Rav4 comes with a tech update which includes massive updates on the interior and makes it perfect. I think you need to remake this video with the actual new Rav4 to be fair.

Living on on an island in Thailand. Went for the Haval H6 put some decent Dunlop AT Crossroad tires on and was really surprised how good the car drives semi off-road conditions…
