Step by step guide on how to use detergent with your pressure washer:
1. Remove the black and grey cap from your Plug ‘n’ Clean detergent bottle
2. Insert detergent bottle upside down into the top of the machine
3. Ensure the mix setting is selected on the lance

On the triangular detergent bottle, pull the GREY element of the cap UP and OFF the bottle (can seem stiff so persevere with force), leaving the black element of the cap still screwed onto the bottle neck. Then insert the bottle into the slot and gently press down. You are then good to go! When finished, pull the bottle out of the Karcher and replace the grey cap.
I wish Karcher would add these simple steps to their bottle, manual and videos - would save us a lot of time and improve the customer experience.

As far as I can see the black cap is still on the bottle. Removing the black cap will let the detergent run out in a few seconds. Stupid and unclear instruction both in this video and in the manual.

Like many purchasers of the K4 I’ve had problems trying to find clear instructions on how to use the liquid . Yesterday I wasted a whole bottle. Please produce a video that explains the procedure for each variant.

I've had my Karcher for 5 years now and I've never been able to use it with soap UNTIL NOW! After many hours spent on this machine and several other people having a go, I've finally sussed it. Even communicated via e mail with Karcher but they weren't able to help. The answer in the end was simple, remove the protective cap on the triangular bottle then PULL the GREY cap UP and OFF to reveal a silicone disc with a cross shaped opening. Insert your upturned bottle into the dispenser and put the wand on MIXER. Hey presto! Soap after 5 years! KARCHER, you really ought to sort this issue by putting instructions on the label of the bottle and in the instruction leaflet. We are educated people, a doctor, two engineers and a nurse all had a go and couldn't solve it until today when I (the nurse, and clearly the most patient and practical person!) spent an hour patiently solving the issue!

Hope this helps but if you have the K4 like me, soap only works when you set the nozzle to soft, won’t work if above soft setting.

When i tried to push the detergent in the black holder element of the karcher fell into the karcher.. Don't know what to do now..

When I purchased a k7 several years ago, there turned out to be a manufacturing fault (internal hose not attached) preventing the detergent system from working.
I could see how it was supposed to work, but in desperation nf against my better judgement, I followed the text on this video and removed both the grey and black caps. Total disaster! I informed Karcher of this error in writing to management and got an acknowledgement, but thus video still remains....

I was struggling with the simple task of plugging in a detergent bottle. I went over the instructions for the washer and those printed on the bottle. No success.
Next, I saw this video hoping for more direct instructions.
Next, I went to the bottle to see what 'remove cap' could mean.
Finally, I realized this is just pulling the cap directly up, so that the cap is split into two parts.... the part with valve remains attached and the bottle is ready for plug-in.
I wonder.... why isn't this described any better?

have the K4 and the detergent bottle in the top has never worked. Even if you literally pour the liquid into the top and have "mix" it does not get mixed. Even the wands are knackered and barely connect/disconnect after using it like 5 times.

Any one have any idea of the name of the silicon attachment that fits on the cleaning bottle before usage 🙌 . Mine is missing.

I agree; there seems to be conflicting information as to how to use the detergent bottle, even from Karcher's own website and YouTube; also where is this "grey cap" the video references ?.
I cannot get it to flow, so my next step is to drill the top of the black cap and see if that works; this should be simple but clearly from the amount of questions online it clearly isn't; poor design if you ask me!

This does not make sense. Once you take of the black cap, there is no grey cap, there is another black scew cap which has a perforated membrane with X on it. Where is the grey cap refered to in step 1 :) I find it very odd that the procedure not being documented on the back of the detergent bottle. Judging from other people here having issues with this you clearly have some communication issues. Dont mention a grey cap if there is no grey cap. God.

Looks like they haven't got around to producing a good easy to see and follow instructional video of how these bottles actually fit into their machines. We purchased a K4 and trying to figure out how to insert the bottle to clean the car was unbelievable frustrating. After my hubbie managed to control his temper, he finally got it in. The whole bottle was used before he'd done the whole car. Come on Katcher, get your act together,

Okay so mine has nothing grey whatsoever. Huge black cap on top you pull upwards and off. Below that is nothing great at all. Instead on top of the plastic white bottle (for stone cleaner) is a second black plastic cap. This has as part of it in the middle a piece of silicone that you could push up and down with a tiny hole in it. This seems to be the key part. Bottle then goes upside down in the unit
