Listening to this after all 3 Matt Walker episodes is very clarifying of the relationship between sleep and glucose disposal

I use a CGM. The most interesting thing I see is that is my blood sugar will sometimes spike in the middle of the night. Last night for instance I got up to 150mg/dl around 3:00am. My best guess is that this is from sleep apnea. I would not be surprised if poor sleep and apnea are really big drivers for high blood sugar.

0:45 environment is missed in this list. Specifically, light environment.

What CGM are you currently recommending?

Even sleep late hours strongly affect blood sugar levels. I sleep through the night everynight at least 7 hours. I noticed the days i go to bed late after midnight, my blood glucose is much higher than when I sleep early, no matter what I eat and portions. I am not diabetic or pre.

@ Dr. Attila: Why do CGMs require a prescription when the prick testers are OTC?

Could you discuss how the disorder hematochromatosis (iron overload) affects blood glucose level? I recently discovered I have this, I have struggled with insulin resistance despite very low carb diet, exercise every day, HIIT and light weight workout, nothing I do seems to lower my A1C numbers but perhaps this may be influencing it. Recently discovered so I haven’t started a blood phlebotomy program yet. Hoping that will help when I do.

Would any of your advice RE: exercise change for someone with a Bicuspid Aortic Valve? Obviously my VO2 max isn’t as high as what it would be if I didn’t have it. I’ve been doing a lot of zone 2 (7 hours per week of zone 2) along with all of the other things you recommend for strength training.

What about the necessity of waking up to urinate two or three times a night if one has diabetes...what to do...even if I have no trouble getting back to sleep?

Are we talking HIT, weight training or cardio?

He's not very intelligent or articulate for a doctor ; coming to vast conclusions based on limited data. He is convinced exercise trumps the benefits and risks of Metformin so therefore doesn't take it anymore...this represents very limited insight and a somewhat lazy approach to academic research. How did he get into medical school?

Love the content, hate the horrible music. Especially when listening on my airpods, the damn music is too loud. Just get rid of the music, please.

The music also tried to be too hip. This is health / semi-medical related content, and the too hip music has no place when listening to this. It makes the content come across as being too slickly marketed. Hate this music honestly.

Get this fear monger off the internet. The arrogance and lack of empathy of this guy is amazing. Don’t be fooled!
