The reality problem isn't even a scientific grey area. There is no way in the world, zero chance, that a NASA Director would announce after 24 hrs that a crew member was dead. Ironic considering Teddy criticises later statements. Just would not happen if a body wasn't found AND went missing near a habitable structure. Also, a mission of that type, with a BOTANIST in the crew, would absolutely have a variety of seeds on board. They take up almost no payload and have a huge potential ROI. I liked the film, but it's amazing how many holes dont get fixed with a basic script edit.

Great movie. The only complaint I had (not to do with the scientific errors), which seems to be with every space costume of the type, is the interior lit helmet. Talk about pointles in reality, not to mention a hassle. Like, those lights reflecting on the inside must be awesome when trying to That part is just dumb.

Loved this movie. Ok, Martian regolith poo potatoes would have killed him. The atmosphere is 1% of earth's so there'd be no "blow me down" and the escape bit has some physics issues but just put those aside and enjoy.

This reminds me of the Colombia disaster.. when NASA knew the shuttle was hit by a piece of foam during lift off.. They could have pointed a telescope to check under the wing for any damage.. or they could have planned a spacewalk so the crew could repair any damage.. They did NOTHING... NASA also could have even sent a second shuttle to rescue the crew if they were stranded in space. It's amazing that they did none of these things.. especially when they already knew.. ( same with challenger disaster.. they knew the minimum safe temp for lift off )... NASA's greatest failure could easily have been it's greatest success if they did things differently.
