The advancements are slow as hell. And this war is getting no where.

Here is the missing part in the media. And Putin addressed this issue in his US interview (which was like 90 minutes long) for CNBC last year. The US wanted to install its Aegis Ashore Missile Systems in Eastern Ukraine on the Border with Russia. Now realize, that in the northern part of that border, you are basically under 600km from Moscow. Russia would have no defense and be in target since these are intermediate range ballistic missile systems. The border with Ukraine, which is half of Russia's western border, is like 2295km long and mostly flatlands. Putin actually explained the Aegis situation on US television (to the interviewer's great upset), raising the question of how would the USA feel if Russia installed IRBM systems on the USA's border in Mexico or Canada, and that he intended to bring it up with Biden at the June 2021 summit in Geneva. This apparently fell of deaf ears but was a major security concern for the US. The US also had labs conducting secretive bio-research in Ukraine (confirmed by Victoria Nuland in Senate Hearings in March 2022). The WHO was sent in to dispose of the materials and help the clean up and destruction of materials shortly before and in the early days of the invasion. The WHO was extremely concerned that the labs could be accidentally hit by shelling, damaging them and releasing the contents on the population causing grave problems (this is from a WHO statement). The Russians became suspicious in 2021 after a virus epidemic happened in Kharkiv in winter 2021, only problem being is that the virus is only transmittable by mosquitoes, which are obviously not there in Ukrainian winter. This event was followed shortly after by a visit of several US officials in Kharkiv which alarmed the Russians. Lastly, Kiev had moved troops and hardware to the contact line with Donbass in January 2022 and been doing massive shelling starting in early February 2022, and the people in Donbass ran to the Russians in a panic which set off a huge amount of political debate as to what to do between the Duma (Russian Assembly) and Putin. To understand, the Donbass/Kiev conflict is not related to Russia but has to do with the Yuzivska shale gas field, 2/3 of which is in Donbass, which was discovered in 2010. Protests in Donbass against it started right away as the field would have meant massive relocations (something like 100, 000 people) and damage to farmlands and environmental risks and they were against it. It just grew worst in time, and if you want the whole story, I can give it to you.
