It's amazing how going outside is part of the solution to so many problems.

I’ve dealt with my “world sucks, problem too big” anxiety by trying to focus on what I can do in my local community. I can’t stop climate change, but I can help keep my community clean and work to reduce my own household’s contribution to the problem. I can’t solve homelessness, but I can donate old furniture to some of the local programs trying to get people into housing. I can’t solve hunger, but I can donate money to the food pantry and food to the church down the street that I always see handing out food to folks in need.
I’m at a point where if I start thinking about the scale of these problems, I panic. So I scale down until I’m no longer panicking and can see a way to help.

Lumberjack here. Before planting trees, please make sure they aren't invasive, that they have enough space, and check with your local forestry service.
Please.

I love this. Simple yet effective. Common sense yet uncommon. Our solutions often lie in just taking action.

100% best advice ever given. I’ve been contemplating approaching my local member of parliament about an issue for a few months. Now I’ve just written it in my diary for my to do list today and will actually DO IT! Great advice.

I really like this advice. We don't have individual control over pollution in our whole world, but we can clean up our neighborhoods. I didn't throw the trash there, but I would rather pick it up and do something about it then let it sit there while complaining about it. I can listen to Dr. K' videos while I do it.

Reminds me of the Serenity Prayer. :)
"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference..."

“The act of doing ‘nothing’ becomes more painful the act of doing ‘something’.
It’s not always easy, but can lead to a life well lived. Sometimes there are ‘other benefits’ that can arise, that you may not even been aware of in the moment. We don’t know everything.

THIS! also IMO those who do nothing are the biggest critics of those who take action

I used to have anxiety about where our produce comes from and what chemicals are used. Now, I prefer to garden and grow as much of my own favorite fruits and vegetables and it can be a good hobby too.

So appreciate your advice Doc! Truly, thanks for imparting your wisdom in some many areas.

The issue is actions can feel so meaningless when you have corporations causing environmental damage on a much larger scale than you or a community can possibly make a difference in.

Also accepting that we cannot control everything.
