Might be less flashy but I’d say the most essential pedals are a compressor and a preamp

Can you do a video demoing these effects so we can hear how they sound? Please and thank you!

My board: compressor, octave, envelope filter, bit crusher.

All of them together make an incredible synth sound that I wish I had more use for

Me, in order:
• Empress Bass compressor (expensive but worth it!)
• Digitech Drop detuner pedal (due to high maintenance singer, but it does have an octaver too)
• Sans amp VT deluxe that's still kicking
• I'm all good with just those!

I'd need a compressor and a fuzz pedal too. But these are all great choices. I have all of these pedal types on my pedal board besides the envelope filter. The chorus is an underrated pick.

I love my morley Fuzzy Wah, its just what i want in a bass pedal, one i get a chorus my bass set will be set

Soldier.

MXR chorus with flanger on + octave + light distortion + heavy compression allows me to sound like the bass synth I have that I hate dragging around.

As a gigging bassist, I can’t see any need for an octaver, envelope filter, chorus or fuzz. A slight overdrive can help (especially on a Pbass) and a compressor but most of the time I go straight into my amp or board.

Depending on what you do, but if I was a beginner I'd buy a boss katana go since it has everything you need in terms of pedals in something you could put in your pocket & use your headphones. I also have a boss katana bass amp with the same set of features. So no need for purchasing pedals at all unless you still like stomping on blocks of metal😂🎉

All you need is a Zoom B1. Seriously. Most of us play in bands in pubs and don’t need a bass pedal board. But for the occasional time you do, the Zoom has it.

To me, the most "must have" is a compressor. You can build everything else around it (except for velocity effects, put the velocity effects before the compressor).

Hey I’m a bass player and I’m looking to buy my first pedal, would the boss geb7 equalizer be a good first pedal?

Awesome, how would you chain them to maximise the sound?

EHX freeze should be in the top 10 for practice!

The only pedal I need is a compressor, and even saying "need" is overstating it.

Besides a Radial preamp and an Empress comp, I go MXR Bass Octave Deluxe, Devi Ever Hyperion, Guyatone Wah Rocker, SansAmp VT Bass and Eden Chorus.

I am sometimes amazed I still manage to get to the point I am now never having used a pedal live, but it puzzles me severely why number 1 isn't a compressor. Like seriously hahaha, those things clean up messy tone like a charm. I mean, the best way to remidy is to work on your technique, but it will work for so many players to get something representable on the stage. I recommend them to everyone, can't get something clean enough before the gig tomorrow? Bring a compressor, it may not be perfect but it will sound better. After the gig practice so you don't need it for the next one hahahaha
