News flash! Most business fail and all of them are hard. The video is a great summary and does a great job at simply explaining an idea. Obviously more research should be done than a 9 minute video. To the channel, thank you for this brief summary of what is possible!

I started with 1 chainsaw, my pickup truck and a trailer, climbed with spikes, first thing I bought when I could afford it was a toro dingo with a grapple,

Tree services are hard to scale, trimming alone isn’t a good business plan either, removal and plant health care is very profitable. This is also a terrible business to jump into if you do not have personal experience.

Skipped right over the employees part which is critical unless you want to run a solo business

Tree work is profitable for me as a side business, when you have the skill and the few tools. i can make a thousand dollars in one day easy all profit.

I would say the first step is to come up with a business plan, then a budget, then start purchasing your equipment and gear from there. Most tree businesses started out small. Most guys only have a trim saw and their climbing system, so that’s what they use until they make more money to purchase the bigger and better equipment.
Tree businesses can be profitable. However, it does slow down in the winter, but it’s not the end of the world because you can still offer winter watering, removal of dead trees, and even Christmas light installation.
I believe tree business owners only make 10% of the profit brought in from jobs. If you’re bringing in a million dollars a year, you’ll make $100, 000.00, but less after taxes.
On average, arborists in the United States make between $40, 000.00-$55, 000.00 a year. The risk is still higher than the reward at that point, but it’s a passion for most people in this industry. That’s why you’ll hear multiple arborists say that there’s not a lot of money to be made, but they’re still doing something they love and are passionate about.
Lastly, you NEED to be a certified arborist through the International Society of Arboriculture in order to own and operate a tree business. You can’t just shadow someone and learn that way, you need to have 3 or more years of experience in the field, OR have a degree in environmental science, biology, or silviculture and one year of experience to take the ISA exam. Then you can possibly start your own tree business. But it’s not something you can jump into because you think you can make a lot of money. It takes time, patience, and a lot of training in order to be successful in this industry.

So my husband is a certified electrical tree line trimmer and crew leader for a professional company. Has been working since 2016. Work is slow sometimes and only does 40 hrs week but when there are storms, 2-3 shifts in a row. However he started doing side jobs. He just bought his own bucket truck, chipper. Truck has commercial ins. He is getting quite a few side jobs. I'm just the wife helping him get side jobs. However, i'm trying to figure out which way to go for side jobs. Sole proprietor or LLC. Doing my research. Just him and he gets other tree trimmers to help out if jobs are bigger. Want to get him licensed and insured especially for bigger jobs. Just kinda stumped on how to go about it. Any advice.

Idk if I'm gonna watch this whole thing. Only someone who comes from money speaks so nonchalantly about starting a business ONLY costing 50, 000 here 30, 000 there like it's just feasible for anyone lol My company's coming up on a year old and I started with $80 a U-Haul and a plug-in Remington chainsaw. If you're reading this and feeling kind of discouraged from the beginning of this guy's video, don't. If I, of all people, was able to do this then please believe you can too

Why not start with a rental boom lift, pole saw, chain saw, PPE and a truck? That doesn’t cost much, and neither does forming an LLC…..

I chopped a tree down in my yard with no experience and it was running through power lines. I rented a Home Depot truck, chain saw, and boom lift. My brother in law operated the lift and we took turns cutting

Don’t really need a bucket truck, need skills- how to know how to properly make cuts aka education. A van and trailer goes a long way
