The hospitality industry is even more focused on customer experience in a post-pandemic world. Hear about the various trends that are currently driving the industry--including experiential stays and eco-friendly air travel.

Our insight Sleep Hotel is revealing how post-pandemic hotel stays are prioritizing customer wellness. With more people enduring stress-related issues over the last several months, brands in the hotel industry are curating specialty stays for customers that improve their ability to sleep while on vacation. This shift indicates that the hospitality industry is now having to address new aspects of visitor experience, where they once mostly focused on convenience and recreation.

It’s not a shock to say that the restaurant industry in North America was severely impacted by the pandemic, but some brands in this space got creative by creating their own private label collections, which we talk about in our Restaurant-Branded insight. Adding additional revenue streams like branded alcohol or pre-mixed seasonings helped brands make up some of the losses related to lockdowns, and open up new possibilities for businesses even post-pandemic.

The combination of lockdowns, “doomscrolling” and more research coming out about the impact of climate change over the last year has made more people worry for the future, and cognizant of how they impact the environment. Knowing this, air travel brands are prioritizing sustainability more than ever before, which we see in our Eco Air Travel insight. Everything from showing carbon footprints of flights to net-zero carbon emission flights are now being offered to customers who are looking to reduce their ecological footprint.

Inevitably, customer health will be a bigger focus than it was pre-pandemic, so that people feel safe traveling. After spending months hyper-aware of hygiene habits, consumers’ are understandably more concerned about how businesses are adapting to public health guidelines and suggestions. Our Post-Hospitality insight is showing how the hospitality industry is responding--with everything from touch-free spaces to protective textiles.

In many ways, the hospitality industry in a post-pandemic world will be more adaptive, progressive and focused on the individual customers’ needs and lifestyles. By catering to the individual, brands in this industry are able to create stronger connections with their customers.
