This was very helpful, I learned a lot ! I still water with a hose and hope to switch to drip irrigation to at least some areas . Thanks for a great video ! 😊👏

Thanks for the vid! Great stuff. I started using chicken waste and coop pine shavings mixed with my soil for all my tomato plants, peppers, cucumbers and broccoli. Seems to be thriving this year because of that!

Yep, definitely tricky for me. I look at the weather forecast & if it says "no precip expected" or very low chance of rain, then I water. Inevitably, we get a late afternoon thunderstorm & my plants are over watered & look sickly. sigh. And I don't water at night in order to reduce slug & earwig pressure. Oh well, I'll just keep adjusting & learning. Thanks for this helpful video. Definitely need to mulch.

Totally agree with the overhead watering…except it’s been crazy hot and I have been lightly spraying my green stalks too cool them down before the heat of the day.

Hello, do you have a video on the drip system you have installed?

I base my watering on 1. Soil dryness (I will water when the top 3 inches are drier, not dried completely but not totally soaked) I give them all a good healthy drink about 3 times a week (I water like this when I have to give the chickens more water)... Everyone will make watering mistakes... Best thing to remember is most plants are forgiving to a point and even us that have been gardening for 40 something years make mistakes....

Good tips. I use cardboard for mulch. Large plain pieces and shredded cardboard around the plants. I try to make a lot of compost. Takes awhile. Also, trying Charles Dowding's no-dig method.

Bad solenoids in the sprinkler manifold have been my trouble for 2 seasons. I’ve been yo-yo watering. 😥 I think they’re all fixed now. 😅

This year my biggest mistake was planting my tomatoes too close and not having proper cages or stakes to tie them up and now they are so unruly I’m not even sure where to start to fix them 🤦🏼‍♀️

My hose connection from the house is on the opposite side of my house, so I stretch my hose and it absolutely does not even reach my garden area yet. I said I was going to get another hose to attach to it but I just fill up a 5 gallon bucket and let it sit out overnight to get rid of the chlorine and use a cup to water at the base. But it's rained three separate times today and it's been raining all day for the past week plus, so it's all too much water right now. Except for my cherry tomatoes that couldn't handle it, everything is growing well fortunately.

Biggest mistake: plant placement. Zucchini took over.
Corn- didn’t plant enough for fertilizing
2nd mistake- pest control
