Is the Tesla MCU2 Upgrade Worth It?

I bought a used Tesla P85 Model S. Within a year the touch screen started to degrade so badly that the glue started dripping out the bottom of the screen. Both Tesla screens were riddled with bubbles and drip lines. The common MCU1 issue was present but not so bad that tesla was in a hurry to replace it with the recall.

I hated the fact that I needed to replace the screen in such an expensive car so soon on my dime, but ultimately the sticky glue dripping on everything below forced me to go ahead and do the upgrade.

The original MCU1 also utilizes 3G which will become an issue in 2022, so with all things considered I paid the $1500 for the upgrade.

This is absolutely despicable. The fact that a major component of the vehicle has such a blaring manufacturer defect, and their response is a $1500 upgrade! Then top that off with them leaving the glue behind and not even cleaning it out set me off! I'm having mine done in June and you best believe I'm going to ensure they clean that entire cavity or I'll refuse pickup. I'm shocked this is not at class action level. Tesla is growing far faster than their service can keep up.

The upgrade was worth it, but the sloppiness from Tesla was a let down.

Mine is super laggy, are you sure they replace the screens and not just the cpu? Do the new screens have higher resolution like the new models? That's crazy that your screen is literally leaking, I've never seen that on any of them. I wonder if that's how they decide to replace the screens or not. Also, I wonder if mcu3 is going to be the new upgrade soon?

How long did your SC take to do the replacement? Our local SC is kinda crap… 🙄

My Model S 2016 with 70, 000 MI is having the same issue. I love the drive love the acceleration love the idea but hate the quality and the service that you receive from Tesla enough to never buy another Tesla until things change probably going to sell this one

Any other manufacturer would have recalled this and replaced everything
