Motor replacement on a Renault Zoe 5AQ. This is a 2018 car that has covered 87k miles and has the common motor bearing issue. The phone that was recording died during the strip down of the stack so there is a slight jump in the video, I think it succumbed to the heat.

Motor replacement carried out pretty much as per Renault procedure (they have more fancy tools and stands etc). I have done this job multiple times now, it’s about an 8-10 cup of tea job depending on how rusty the bolts are and I average roughly 1 cup of tea per hour.

Prior to video the following was done -
AC gas removed
HV safety lockout procedure
Undertrays removed
Reduction gear oil drain
Wheel nuts loosened
Vehicle raised on axle stands

Hi Gary, A big fan of your work! I am repairing an MY2018 R110 with an "Rotor position sensor" (DTC F3-0841) in my hobby garage. Looking through various forums I decided to exchange the motor with a new used low milage one, but after mostly assembling the car I wanted to test the system, and though the old error is gone I now get 2 DTC's on the PEB: "General electric failure" (DTC 01-0854) and "General signal failure" (DTC 02-0850). Is the PEB also dead, or how would you go about the diagnosis..?

Hi, thanks for the video. I was wondering if the new motor needs to be coded or is it plug and play

Watching this thinking "so this is why it costs so much it's usually a write off" (at least if done at a dealers)

Excellent video. In my mind, I thought a motor change in an EV ought to be pretty straight forward compared to an ICE, but evidently not! We were considering buying an R135 100Kw on a 71 plate (2021) - and a hunt for known issues on Zoes brought us here. Is a later car likely to have the same potential problem do you know? Thanks.

Thanks for the content about this issue.
My Zoe ZE50 R135 motor has this failure and I need to replace it.
Does every Renault Zoe motors work on the different versions of the car?
How can i know wich motor is appropriate for my car?

This renault zoe is older model model and you've newer model as well.
Could you tell me what's the difference between renault zoe slam between 2020 and 2018?
They look same, when you look in picture?

Only 6 years old, 87k miles and you've done this multiple times. Disappointing. I wonder what a dealer would have charged?
