I have R135. Love it, but drive nice and gently, so I'm hoping it lasts a LONG time😊

Hi Gary,
I have a Q90 z.e. 40 2017 top spec (heated seats, leather interior, etc) demonstrator bought in 2020 now has just over 10000 miles. Touch wood no issues so far. Thank you for the video.

My Zoe R110 41 Kwh from 2018 is now on renault service for replacement of the motor with 70 k miles (115.000 km), no issues with suspension. Mostly used in highway but in eco mode at about 55 mph

My june 2017 Renault Zoe Q90 84, 000 miles SOH 86% has had drop links and n/s front strut done under warranty around 50, 000 miles
Had a cell problem a couple of months after i got it ( Nov 2017 ) battery removed and sent back to france to be fixed since then all good 👍

Hi Gary, my 2018 R90 is on 90, 000 miles with no drivetrain issues and battery is still great. I’ve had front suspension work done probably four times now and it’s really getting on my tits. I’ll probably chop it in this year against a Hyundai, but it’s been a fantastic servant for us as far as saving fuel costs goes, and I still think they look great

My friend and neighbour had three, the first one had narrow wheels and tyres and had unreasonably high tyre wear. In the end they have given up on the Zoe's because of problems with the AC/heater losing gas which was uneconomic to rectify
They now have one petrol vehicle, one hybrid and Chinese EV

Our r110 from 2017 (albeit with 40000 miles) has only had the front suspension issues supposedly common on cars used around town.

Replaced all front bushings (and maybe shocks?) at great expense, although according to the dealer it's a known issue and renault covers the parts cost so we paid labor. Still expensive!

We do have a "hunting" or kind of cyclical wubwub when decelerating, I suspect brakes being unevenly worn, and the battery is at 91% SoH

My Q90 has 43kw AC charging, you seem to be suggesting that it was only available on the first model. Interesting info though, and nice to know that I might have 50, 000 or so miles of trouble free motoring 🤞

I had 2019 r110 zoe. Used as driving instructor in eco mode all the time so mabe not power related. Had motor bearings go at 50k miles replaced under warranty. Then 92k miles the check electric system light came on, renault couldnt see it for 3 weeks so traded in for kona and didnt see what was wrong with it

My 2018 had to have a secondhand motor at around 100K miles

I have a r90 41kwh 92ch at almost 160, 000Km. The only problem I had to solve was it didn't charge on the slow 8A charger so I bought a 32A 7.1kwh charger and its okay now. Battery is at about 83% health. I just paid out of the battery lease as it was too expensive. The car always does around 200Km at 0 degrees and in summer about 260/280Km. What surprises he is the non interest by Renault in explaining anything or doing ANY preventative work on this. It seems very hard to find any independent repairer in France actually.

It would be interesting to compare motor design of Zoe 40kWh and Leaf ZE0. Also, is the LEAF motor easier / faster to repair? Etc.

I think its more related to the type of use that they got because, lets be honest, who is going to thrash any of these motors? The car is not fast (top speed wise) and the range falls of a cliff when accelerating hard or when going faster then 90 ish kph..
In my opinion, cars that are driven for longer periods at higher speeds and/or that are accelerated hard from standing (traffic use with a heavy right foot) demand more from those bearings and they eventually fail.

Why OEM's fail to design reliable motors is what I would like to know. Its not a Renault issue, pretty much all EV's are having issues with bearings and reduction gears.
Everyone is afraid of the batteries and in the end the weak point are the motors 🤣

Hi Garry

I have a R135 and it has a strange noise, more like a whistling. It is definitely coming from the motor. The car has only 22000 miles. I bought the car a month ago, and only found out about bearings issues few days after the purchase
Should I be worried?

Hi Gary, we have r110 with 103000miles and now we have motor bearing issue. The second zoe we have r135 with 94 000 miles and it didn't have bearing issue.

How much of a bearing (excuse the pun) do you think the difference between air and water cooling has on the longevity?

Don't the Continental motor has issue with worn brushes? A simple part to replace but quite expensive as it involves removing the engine

Watching this with a clenched bum. Thank god the R90 came out on top. Ours is on 92000 miles though.

Are bearing failures a given or do X% of them escape this issue?

Is the r240 and r90 the same motor? I heard they have the same article number.

So the ‘most reliable’ ones need motor bearings after 100k? Are they hard to replace? I’ve rebuild engines so I’m not shy of mechanical work. Just gets expensive if you need special tools etc. I might get a Zoe with bearing issues and replace them myself.
