I am a 17yr old, and on my way to my college, I see a gentleman driving a nitrous blue MK2 Ford Focus RS and the harmonious symphony from that 2.5 5 cylinder is just insane. Every morning, I leave my house at certain time everyday, just so I don't miss it and it brings a huge grin on my face every time. I am personally not a huge hot hatchs, and I mainly prefer the mighty V8's like the M156s and the F136's, but this car has a special place in my heart. Unfortunately, by how the automobile industry is evolving, and the government placing more and more stricter restrictions, I may never be able to own and enjoy the raw symphony of combustion engines.

I don't dislike most of these, but they're generally the sort of cars that are so focused on 0-60 and not fun - any Golf R or A45 driver in particularly who says they don't want to go EV, I find it very hard to take them seriously...although I can't argue with them waiting for a better EV - a Model 3 could be that, if they at least had an optional extra of any sort of passable interior 😄

That said, I do like the RS4, Evo and Panamera, for different reasons, those cars have real character.

I've realised over the years that I don't have a RWD/FWD/AWD preference particularly. It's just about if everything is nicely balanced so you can make use of the drivetrain. AWD is the hardest to get right though, even the best ones are generally more impressive than they are engaging. The novelty of using the throttle to ruin your shopping gets old pretty quick though! Admittedly, I've lost food to all 3 drivetrains at least once...in AWD and RWD to hybrid response and in FWD to turbo boost 😁

Carbon build up on the Golf is not an issue in the UK since we have dual injection.

Interesting choice between the 435d, and the CLA 45. I’m in my 50’s now, so I’m guessing I’m not your target audience, but both are great choices if serviced regular.

Rs head gasket was only an issue on the first model year. It wasn't a design flaw, it was an issue with using the eco-boost mustang gasket, by mistake. which has different coolant passages. I test drove a rs and if it was stock, holy sh** it's quick.

I must say, i think my car might be one of the best on this list. I bought it for £20k, 40k miles completely stock. 400bhp awd evo x. Before doing anything to it i clocked 3.7s 0-60. Intake tune and an exhaust im looking at just under 470 horsepower.
