Can Colleges Reject You for Being Too Smart?

Basically it’s saying “don’t go here, you could do better”

This is one of the 2 reasons I keep getting rejected from job applications:
1: overqualified
2: underqualified

This is because I have extensive education background but lack work experience.
This has been a heavy weight on my depression and I don’t know how to solve this.

I was accepted to MIT and rejected by OU (which is where I wanted to go). Sadly couldn't go to MIT as I couldn't secure scholarships to pay for the insane cost and my parents at the time were struggling to make ends meet and couldn't help. Ended up going to a local state university with a full ride and working to help my parents. Now we're all doing a lot better financially. Odd how things pan out sometimes lol

This happened to me. I got rejected by 2/3 of my safety schools, all large public universities with an acceptance rate of over 60%. Meanwhile I got into 3/5 of the private schools I applied to (Stanford, Harvard, and UPenn, waitlisted by Princeton and rejected by Yale).

British colleges accept people no matter how stupid or smart they are lol as long as you pass the interview and show your dedicated to the subject you chose you'll get in 95% of the time anyway (University is different though)
