Rickie Fowler hit this drive during the third round of the 2018 Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open at Gullane Golf Club.

It hasn't rained since the 80's though to be fair, the fairways are like the Battlefields of North Africa 1943. Downhill and wind assisted my 7 irons are going about 220/230 which is radio rental.

2 things to clear up for any idiots watching this video in the future:

#1 - if you’re contemplating making a “straight is better than long” or “drive for show putt for dough” comment, just don’t. The game has changed, this drive would have been marked as a missed fairway but he was 30 yards from the hole and did he make birdie? Ya.

#2 - if you are blown away by the distance and think to yourself, well gee wiz i only hit my drives 275! Well, take yourself over to Scotland and you too can hit a 400 yard drive. This drive was impressive as he carried the ball ~300 yards in the air, but a 158 yards of roll will pad even the shortest guy’s stats.

yesterday i hit my pitching wedge 138 yards and the guy i was playing with said it was the longest wedge he's ever seen - i admit i crushed it. told the clubhouse and they are considering it for the club record.

Not saying its easy lol. Obviously not by a big margin. But it does help the driving distance when the fairways are running as fast as the greens plus down wind. Again I'm not saying its easy, I'm lucky if I carry it 260.

It's windy as fuck, all behind him. Also, that fairway is rolling at a 9 or faster. My local muni greens are way slower than this fairway.
