I’ve been fishing for 50 years and that was the most spectacular river catch I’ve ever seen! Well done!

Growing up as a kid on a farm, I used to gar fish using a fly rod and cut bream fish for bait. Never caught anything as big as your fish, but you brought back some awesome memories of better days. Thank you for bringing us along for the adventure!!!

I've been fishing for fifty (50) years and watching fishing shows and have NEVER seen anything as dramatic as that!

That was epic! On the scale of Capt. Ahab vs. Moby Dick.

You will remember this day the rest of your life! 😊

That was a monster. Great video. You are the real deal, not afraid to get down and dirty. You don't care how you look to the neighbors when you get back home !

That was the most epic way to catch that fish. So many snags and tangled lines, but still landed a fish that anyone would be thrilled to catch.
No doubt that fish is over 100lb, might even be 150 with that girth.

Love the respect this man has for the fish that he catches. Everyone should aspire to those principles

You go far and beyond to catch a fish, I love it.

This is a man who really gets into his fishing. Personally I don't normally dive into the water to get the fish unless I'm going after abalone or some sort of shellfish LOL

Hey everyone!

I estimated this fish's weight at about 150lbs based entirely on how it felt. As always happens, I fully expect plenty of "not 150lbs, bro"

So keep these points in mind...
1) It's an estimate and it could easily by wrong. This fish was easily over 100 and I believe closer to the 150 mark, but I don't know for sure. It was a guess (although I will point out that I was there and actually held it in my arms, not looking at it on the screen of my phone).
2) If it's really, really important to you that I'm wrong, that's just weird... Like seriously, that's just odd.

I believe very, very strongly that the significance of a catch is just as much (often more) about circumstances and personal investment as it is about a fish's size. Even if this fish wasn't as big as I believe it to be, I'm still just as excited to have caught such an incredible animal under these circumstances.

Anyway, huge thanks goes out to all my Patreon supporters and public supporters (subscribers) of the channel!! You are THE reason I get to do this and that is never lost on me. Tight lines!

I only dream of a fishing experience like this. This was a great watch and an amazing experience to see take place. Well done!

I am all about jackfish and around my area anything 12 to 15 lbs is big and 20 is huge. These things are like fishing jack and I didn't realize I wanted to fish an alligator gar until I saw these videos. Keep it up!

despite the incredible piece of luck which was deserved, this goes down as one of the most exciting catches I've ever seen, think I would of be equally heartbroken if it had got away.
what a stonking beast of a fish.

I just caught my first gar thanks to you!! I had a bluegill head out and kept missing a fish. I got it close enough to see that it was a big gar. I thought back to you, let some flack out, set my drag, clicked the release and waited. It made several little movements but finally it started running. I clicked over and landed the fish!! I ain't ever purposely caught a gar before. That was fantastic!! Thank you!!
