Seven years and this video save me a trip to the bike shop. Thanks!

If you don't have a spacer tool you can use the business card trick: fold a business card in half over the rotor and slide it under the brake pads. Adjust the pads so that they put light pressure on both sides of the card. Undo the brake bolts, squeeze the brake to align, and retighten gently. Release the brake then rotate the wheel until the card falls out.

Thank you for this video. I had to search a lot before finally finding what that click noise was.

It seems like those attempting these fixes likely aren't mechanically-inclined enough to do them. In that case, they must pay a pro to do the work, which is the only annoying thing to me. In any case, the mounts NEED to be faced perfectly and the calipers lined up for ANY disc brakeset to get the best braking possible. This necessity isn't unique to TRP, I think the rotor design simply makes it more obvious if the calipers aren't installed correctly, which is a good thing if you think about it. Anyway, I use the Spyre SLC calipers with aftermarket pads and a Shimano rotor. I'm extremely happy with this setup and these calipers. They're powerful (for mechanicals), reliable, easy maintenance, lightweight and look damn good! There is no better design out there for mechanical disc brakes currently other than what TRP makes.

Really helpful video. Now can you find a fix for the pads backing out

Fixed the issue quickly, purchased other rotors that are functional rather than stylish. These rotors are fundamentally flawed and no fine adjustments can make up for the large upswept cuts in the braking surface causing clicking and pulsing.

Rather than refacing the contact point on both my fork and frame, I used a set of avid/sram mount spacers. This gave me more room to adjust and straighten the calipers in different directions. Had to go up about 20mm in my brake rotors' sies and haven't had an issue since. Hope this helps anyone else dealing with the issue.

I hate to say this but we all know it's the rotor. I have a 2016 Trek 920 with the rotors in this video and I have this same issue front and rear. My wife has a 2017 Trek 920 with a different set of rotors with more brake surface and we have never had this problem with her bike. The brakes still work fantastically but that noise is extremely annoying.

I aligned mine to the best of my ability with both pads contacting evenly. I don't get any clicking under light braking. I noticed that I get huge amounts of shuddering under really heavy braking, like down a descent. Why the shudder under hard braking?

I'm having this issue with a new set up. I've even tried using cup/cone washers to get that even contact but it still does it. I've tried bedding in the brakes properly twice and the power still sucks. Can't lock my wheel at all

I think I'm stuck with it.
It's an old bike, with skinny forks and using one of those retrofit brackets. I've reinforced the forks, but still they're not designed for this type braking. Secondly, the calipers themselves aren't that great.
My goal with the conversion was to
-quit wearing out rims
-safer wet weather braking.
At this point, I can live with the shuddering, but it will always bug me as I don't like additional repetitive stresses on the forks.

I need help please! I can't adjust the 3 mm pad adjustment screw because it has blue loctite applied. It stripped my 3 mm hex key and also the adjustment screw. :(
