What's great about his solos is that they don't contain filler notes. Every note is meaningful and perfectly placed.

Everytime I hear high hopes it brings tears to my eyes, my deceased wife and I went in 94 to dolphin stadium and watch this magical concert, she's been gone 25 years but I have high hopes of seeing her again.

I'll never understand why Mr Gilmour is never mentioned in the same breath as Hendrix, Page, Clapton, and Van Halen. He is truly a brilliant musician, and deserves that stature.

As a follow up to my comment...
Thank you all for expressing opinions. I, too, am a huge Floyd fan. I was fortunate enough to have seen them in '94. In Syracuse, NY, for Division Bell. How I even remember it, I'll never know, 😂. Clearly the greatest show of my lifetime. There will never be another Pink Floyd. The tributes are good, really good, but still not the real deal.

One of the Greatest Musicians of our lifetime’s. His story telling with an instrument is phenomenal. It invokes space and emotion. Tells a story without uttering a word. Fantastic!

As an old man myself, not only does this solo bring tears, so does the lyrics because they ring great truth. The grass was greener, and we look back wistfully of days gone by when we are older and wiser, yet there will never be a joy and wonder like being young. God bless you Dave for bringing many masterpieces to our lives.

Of course we all know not many can express as much emotion from a guitar than Gilmour. All I can say is when BB King played with Gilmour on stage he asked David, " you say you're English, but ...boy, you sure you wasn't born in Mississippi?"
Love it. Or as the producer of 'The Wall ' Bob Ezrin said, "David has the best hands in the business. You could give him a ukulele and he'll make it sing like a Stradivarius"
Yes, indeed. I couldn't agree more.

Gilmour can make a string instrument weep, howl, and sing like nobody's business! A man who is one with his instrument. I never tire of hearing his music.
