to "blass that son of a bia-tch down to nothing", because after he ask they guy to either surrender or flee, the guy went on and on about he is a man of honor and he will die fighting gloriously and stuff, he later explain his anger to his peers telling them that
he's mad at such dumbass because due to their honor, his fleet have to go down with it, and due to "clowns like this" there is unending war in the history of mankind, he further concludes that he cannot stand leading figures who sacrifice everything for glory and honor and does not regard the preciousness of human life especially life of his sub oridnant

This series really painted a good picture of how stupid and infantile the aristocracy was and still are. This show was pure satire. The incompetent holds all the power while the ones with reason and common sense have none.

I dislike the modern anime trend of making caricatures of unimportant background bad guy characters. It just seems to lessen the realism.

In the OVA series, that Imperial Admiral looked like a well-dressed noble, and it was his completely stupid military maneuvers and narcissistic desire to have his entire fleet die "gloriously" when faced with personal dishonour that truly showed us the crumbling and decrepit nature of the Goldenbaum Dynasty. From the outside, he was a polished and decorated Imperial Admiral. But on the inside, a rotting corpse. A perfect microcosm of the Dynasty itself.

In the new adaptation, all I see is an overfed school bully doing what school bullies do when looking down the barrel of a gun. The whole thing seemed like a joke, and lessened the realism IMO, which hurts for a series that was built on story that's basically a history documentry of a far future conflict (relative to us) by people even further in the future.
