I don't really use block before engaging, I mostly use it after engaging with Seismic Slam and Punch to mitigate damage and buy time for my punch to come back. In which case I either punch again if I have health/am being healed or get out.

You can also troll the enemy rein by canceling his charge right as he’s about to hit your team

I’ve also learned that opening a fight with your charge punch is better because then you can follow up with your jump AND primary fire instead of jump
