Entry level job, you need a PHD in nuclear physics, must be a finalist for a nobel prize and you will need 5 years experience. Starting wage $7/hr

I've seen "entry-level jobs" asking for an associates or bachelor's, master's preferred, 5+ years experience, then only want to pay $12/hr.

Interviewer - "Why do you want to work with our most amazing company as one of our most amazing Sys Admins?" - Me "Because I am deeply passionate about not being homeless and then starving to death."

I once was ghosted after two interviews and the recruiter (who works for the company) STILL hits me up on LinkedIn as if I’m a brand new candidate asking me to apply with a generic “you’re an impressive candidate” message. It just validated my feeling that the company wasn’t going to be a good fit anyway.

There's a company that approaches me every few months, talks about what a great candidate I am and tries to interview me.... problem is I've already been interviewed 3 times there already and theyve completely ghosted me after every single interview. No acknowledgement or respect shown whatsoever for my time. After the 3rd time, I made the decision to every time they approach me I'd schedule the new interview and then just not show up. Done this twice now and they're too idiotic to realise I'm just wasting their time the way they did to me. Door swings both ways when it comes to mutual respect.

One thing that always cracks me up since I work in IT. Requiring 10 years experience on a brand new technology.

My cousin is in IT and last week a recruiter told him about a job opening. He is always looking for an alternative so he took the call. The recruiter said that as part of the interview process the company would expect him to do a live coding test. My cousin has more than 15 years in the field and is a senior developer. He told the recruiter that in 2021 no one at his level does live coding tests since that is not something that they would do on the job. Then he asked the recruiter how many other candidates has he approached for the role and how many turned him down once they learned about the live coding test. "Twenty five over the past two months, and all of them said no they wouldn't do it." Isn't insanity doing the same thing over and over yet expecting a different result?

You hit them all on the head!

Employers are not only out of touch, but delusional. 🤦🏻‍♀️👎🏻

I'm not gonna lie, I've backed out of so many interviews and applications over these exact things.

I once got a rejection letter from a company I didn't remember applying for. I searched my Sent email folder. I had applied literally two years before. Who sits on a position that long?

You have to talk about the inefficient long hiring process. 6-7 interviews over 5 months span. That's insane.

never do a special project on a real world problem during the interview phase. there's no job, they just want someone to do it for free.

One more: Do not require a list of references with an application. It's fine to ask for references when they've narrowed the prospects to 3-5 candidates, but to ask for the contact info just to even be considered is an obnoxious ask.

I just wish the hiring process werent so convoluted, I SERIOUSLY HATE one of the bullet points in your previous video, I DETEST having to open an account just to send a damned resume! it's idiotic, here's my resume, just take a look at it and we go from there!

Yup, I recently had an interview process experience that covers most of these. Applied and got an interview for an entry level administrative position where the starting pay is 23k a year (yes, you read that right), interviewed with a panel of 3 women who asked me extremely basic questions directly from a sheet of paper and was clear they wanted a candidate with a bunch of experience already, told me they would make a decision within a week, and it was over a month before they sent me a rejection email. You know what's funny though? Despite interviewing many candidates for this basic entry level job, they still haven't filled the position. It's been reposted on the website I applied to it from twice since I interviewed with them, and one of those times was while I was still waiting for a response from them... If they're expecting an experienced candidate for a starting salary of 23k, they are out of their minds.

The “entry level job requiring 3 years experience” is the most infuriating thing to me. Especially because like you said the pay is usually low. So stupid

I've been interviewing for 4-5 months now. I recently received 3 job offers (2 more potentially coming in). I ended up signing with the middle tier salary with a pretty big company because their interview process made me feel like they actually cared about me. They spent so much time making sure I was accommodated and it just felt good overall. I went with the lower salary because I had to remind myself that a higher salary but then being treated like crap or made to jump through hoops is not worth it. I hope I made the right decision but my heart is telling me I did.

That's why I don't feel bad about what's going on with employers getting ghosted. Now that the employment market reversed in the favor of candidates, companies who screwed people are seeing harder time hiring quality candidates.

Once I left a job application process halfway through because it required like 8 psychological tests that would take 2-3 hours to complete! No, thank you.

The worse the job is, the worse it pays, the worse the conditions... The more stupid hoops they make you jump through. Speaking from personal experience and observation all around. It really tells you something about the people who typically run companies that dominate our society.
