The point of the recording indicator is to prevent illegal recording of other people, it is not a bug that needs to be fixed

Try covering it with the negatives from exposed film. Should block all visible light but not infrared so it may think it's unblocked.

The light being on prevents creeps and other bad people from recording people without their consent, it's good that it's there.
