Hey some of you have pointed out a comment in the video that is incorrect and YOU are correct!!! I don't know if I misspoke or edited the video wrong but let me clarity and thanks for spotting it! When the high pass on the compressor is engaged the low end is still being compressed but not "triggering, "the compressor. A single-band compressor always compresses all frequencies. The filter only affects what frequencies trigger the compression action. I hope that cleared it up. Thanks for catching that! Doc

jajajajajaja I am here waiting for the LUFS trick and tip but honestly, this is a refreshing reality because I worked alongside many great mixing engineers and I have never seem them stress too much over LUFS. I began stressing out LUFS because of youtubers I see talking about it.

Amazing A++ I was looking for the perfect LUFS number and you finally revealed it! I'll be using this on all my mixes from now on till eternity.

Reminds me of Jack Joseph Puig talking about how making your mixes super loud is pointless because when you make it FEEL amazing, guess what...they’re gonna turn it up.

Finally some one who has a sensible approach to final levels. If you get bogged down with trying to Master different levels for different streaming formats you'll never release anything. The most important thing is to maximise the level without losing your dynamics. Having some headroom in your final mix for Mastering is also very important.

Fantastic. The music-production world needs more common sense like this! 🤠

Wow... This is really an amazing video. I'm sharing it to all my producer and mix engineer friends.

I remember watching a video of the mastering engineer that mastered "Happy" by William and while he was showing how he did it, he never mentioned anything about LUFS. All he said was it sounded good and loud enough.
Watching this video just made me realize that he never said anything about Loudness Units.
Great Video... +1 Sub 💪🏾

I always aim to get my mixes as loud as possible without any distortion which means all my mixes sound like shit on all those platforms. As long as it sounds good in iTunes or a car I’m happy

Just a polite correction: The HPF on the FG-Grey DOES NOT mean everything under 102Hz is not being compressed. It's a single band compressor so it can't do that. It means that frequencies under 102Hz are not triggering the compression. But when compression happens, it's happening to all frequencies.

after the "beg for money" I instantly subscribed!! As someone who works in tv, I appreciate a good cue card joke!! Furthermore, awesome information and perspective!

I never use LUFS meter on my mixes. I go by ear all the time and check gain staging all the time, and when the mix is almost done, I go to the master bus and engage a SSL Bus compressor(just for color, I don't compress more than 1-2 dB), and Ozone 9 for leveling, wich I adjust again by ear and checking I don't crush the hell out of it.... And the funny thing is that I've checked a few of my final mixes of the last year with a LUFS meter, and all of them got pretty similar levels. So I never worry(never worried too) about levels.. Not RMS, not LUFS. Just gain staging and ear. If sounded good to me, I never got a complain from my clients in terms of loudnes!
Thanks as always, Bobby!!!
