I'm 49 and just started learning guitar in the past 6 months.  Your never too old to learn!  It's great to stretch the brain in new directions!

Some people get pissed that you upload so often. I love it. Every one of your videos are like subliminal PSA's that help me stay motivated in learning guitar. I'm going on 7 years of playing, but I only just found your channel a few months ago. Now I watch every video and I'm learning so much. Keep doing what you do man!

I started when I was 55 (5 yrs ago). I got addicted and play 1 hr per day. I have 33 guitars. Playing guitar is absolutely awesome, is a continuous challenge. Motivation is easy to find: there are so many songs that can be played and also be used as inspiration!
I am not great, I do what I can, but I enjoy TREMENDOUSLY! Clearly the learning curve is not steep, progress is slow, but there IS progress. One just needs perseverance.
I hope this helps those who believe "it is too late to start now". Keep rockin'

Tyler, I am pushing 60 and I started playing about 8 months ago. I try to watch every video you put out and I really enjoy your channel. The kids/job/wife excuse was what kept me from being serious about learning to play. Practicing has become the most anticipated part of my day. If you are really concentrating on your practice and have fun doing it them that is a win-win in my book. Thank you for all the great content and continued success to you.

I'll be 52 tomorrow and have been playing since I was a kid. Recorded my first song in 1978. I do okay and have maybe a dozen albums [indie]. Been taking actual lessons for a few years now [which I recommend], and I don't think that I'll ever be picking up how to play _widdily-widdily-widdily_. Stuff like what you did in the beginning, or jam leads, or sweep picking. My instructor is giving me things that he says will lead to these capabilities, but I'm not certain. I can do an okay David Gilmour, but will probably never wrap my head around Tosin Abasi. But I figure I'll just be the best me that I can, become more than "the drummer who plays guitar, " and keep playing my guitar collection as much as possible. Thanks for the inspiration, and keep making those great videos.

I bought a cheap guitar in my early 20s and put it away to collect dust because I couldn't play like Hendrix after a month of sporadic practice. After having kids, quitting drinking and realizing that any nightlife I had is now over, I decided to pick it back up at the age of 32. I had a friend who's in a band show me some cool beginner stuff to keep me motivated through that initial rough period.
That was a year and a half ago and I'm so glad that I decided to stick with it. I practice at least an hour a day now, plus play around whenever I get a free moment.
I still can't play like Hendrix but at least my wife doesn't make me practice/play out in the garage anymore. Steady progress!

I started playing 2 years ago at 35 years old. I still practice/play everyday and absolutely love it. If any of you are hesitating, just GO FOR IT! You'll be glad you did! :)

I’m almost 22 and I’m just now picking it up. I’ve played the ukulele for about a year now but what’s interesting is that I tried to learn guitar at age 10 and remember it being super frustrating. Now? I still have terrible technique and a serious struggle with rhythm but I can actually successfully make chords and understand tab which is something at ten no one bothered to explain to me so I was like lol never mind. I still sometimes feel I’m started too late but I also think that being older can help me progress faster because I can set my own priorities. I really see progress in just three short weeks of my playing, already have an electric guitar in mind (Epiphone Les Paul Studio LT) for when I wanna start learning that as well and have actually seen phenomenal improvement in my ukulele technique from switching between the two instruments. I’m ready to see where this takes me! 😊😊😊

I thought my whole young life, the guitar was so intimidating! All those frets, all those strings, chords, etc. but once I picked it up a year and a half ago, my life was changed! I'm already playing lead guitar in this killer band I'm in and it's awesome! I practice for hours, every single day, not with the mindset of "If I play, I'll be better", but I just do it because it's fun. You have to have the passion in order to go anywhere with this instrument. I've tried playing many different instruments in my life, but only one stuck with me, and that is the guitar! What a lovely instrument.

I am 44 years old and finally decided to learn guitar. I had a few lessons when I was 13 years old but I thought it was too hard and didn't stick with it. About 10 years ago I bought an acoustic guitar at a flea market for $20.00. I never played it for more than a few days here and there because I only knew a few chords and I always got discouraged quickly. This year (2019) in mid January I decided to to give it a serious go. On the 16th I picked up the guitar and hit youtube. It is now May and I have been playing every day. To my surprise I have become pretty good at fingerstyle and have learned dozens of strange and wonderful chords. I never thought I would ever be able to make such beautiful noises from an instrument. I was inspired by a video of Mike Masse playing Scarborough Fair and it was the first full song I learned. Took 5 days of solid practice to get it right. I've also learned the 5 positions of the minor pentatonic scale and have had a lot of fun learning blues soloing with my new to me MIM strat. The videos on this channel have been a great help with that aspect of my playing. One of the videos on scales gave me a light bulb moment a couple of weeks ago and the fret board seemed to magically become open to me. It made me realize how to use those 5 positions I had been practicing. Thanks Tyler.
