Power Tip: Setting Custom Context in the Pieces Copilot

In this power tip tutorial, Pieces Software Engineer, Mason Williams discusses the importance of context to machine learning models.

Learn how to attach custom context into your conversation based on the project you’re working on whether it's a file, folder, code snippet, or even a website. 🗂️

Through the process of Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), Pieces Copilot is able to fully understand where you are in your workflow for additional context to your manual selection.🌟

In this demo, Mason added a TypeScript file to the conversation context, asking specific questions related to the code within. Notice how GPT-4, never before exposed to this code, leverages the added context to provide a more tailored and accurate response.

We hope you find this tutorial valuable, and don't forget to explore our other videos covering all aspects of Pieces Copilot! 🤖

Great stuff, especially the adding if folders and websites!

A question: do you plan to also allow usage of GPT-4 Turbo? Of course making it optional to the "normal" GPT-4 model?

if i add a folder to context, does the copilot have access to the files within? does it have access to the subfolders and files in those?

Does getting context from folders only works with a GPT4 API?

This is awesome, but the file selector does not recognize .tsx files, which is quite...odd. And annoying...
