🔴 You DON'T NEED To Fast For AUTOPHAGY!

Insulin is not just about blood sugar control. It is a very busy hormone and affects over 100 different processes in your body, including suppressing autophagy and navy other hormones. If you raise your blood sugar by eating carbs, you not only raise your insulin to affect the carbs, but that elevated insulin also affects every other process at this heightened level, causing huge imbalances. This could be why studies have shown that aggressive blood sugar control via insulin actually increases mortality, not reduce it. You need all of these hormones and processes in balance for optimal health and autophagy, but you don't need to starve yourself from all good for this, only from carbs and sugar.

I started carnivore at the end of Oct 2023 as a 2-month challenge to drop weight before my 50th birthday, and I have been on it since (now April 2024). Right now I'm smaller than when I was in the US Navy (got out in 2002), and I feel much better not carrying around that extra weight. My blood pressure has dropped, and my skin is even healthier, as well. I owe it to experts like Dr. Chaffee and Dr. Ken Berry whose content has made me confident that carnivore has been the best thing I could do for my health. Thank you!

Thankyou Dr. Chaffee for sticking your neck out there and going against the grain, it is appreciated! Would have been much easier to go with the establishment. So refreshing to see this type of content and the science and common sense to back it up! Thanks again 👍

Love the analogy of the mitochondria being like the sailors on an old fashioned sailing ship! That's it for me now, whenever I think about mitochondria, I'll see them climbing the rigging and swabbing the decks!

Thank you Dr Chaffee, I had a foot sized ovarian tumor and thought my intestines would rupture so stopped eating before surgery, for two weeks my muscle tone greatly improved lifting everything up nicely for a 63 year old woman. I am planning to do a fast again with the Steak and Butter Gal protocols.

Relatively short and easy intermittent fasting, and no fast carbs completely changed my body, and eliminated most health problems. A crushed big toe joint, and my painful shoulder has even become mobile and pain free again. The body is weird.

No, they don’t say you have to go over 72 hours to get decent autophagy. They (Dr. Ekberg, Dr. Fung) say autophagy starts around 17-18 hours and maxes out around 72 hours. Then, stem cell production really kicks in on days 4 & 5 of fasting.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:

00:00 *🔄 Autophagy is a process where cells recycle damaged organelles, such as mitochondria, for maintenance.*
02:18 *💡 Fasting is not necessary for autophagy; rather, high insulin levels suppress autophagy.*
03:42 *🥩 Following a ketogenic or carnivore diet can promote autophagy by reducing insulin levels.*
08:03 *🧬 Warburg's research showed that damaged mitochondria, not genetic changes, are the primary cause of cancer.*
12:29 *💊 Mitochondria can be damaged by various factors, including carcinogens, radiation, and plant toxins.*

I still like to fast perodically, even on carnivore, because after 24 hours I feel very refreshed. I do this for me; it's not for everyone. However, I'm glad autophagy doesn't require pushing to the 72-hour or longer fasting time-frame. That's really nice carnivore does it regularly.

Today is my one year carniversary, hooray! I don’t need to fast but I love it as a fabulous tool for resetting any health situation especially around the gut, eating and emotions, resilience training, taking a break from cooking and the bathroom. Dr Chaffee fasts intermittently since tends to eat OMAD. My favorite fast these days is the dry fast. So far I’ve done 48, 72 and 36hr dry fasts and find them extremely useful. Do your research. Dry fasting requires knowledge and guidance.

Cheers.

I have CRPS in
My left hand, for 2 years now. Started carnivore 10 weeks ago and I have seen and felt less sensitivity in l left hand. Truly amazing. I have a long way to go after being vegan for 20 plus years, eating flax almonds etc. But definitely not 0:02 going back. Thank you Dr Chafee this information made so much sense😊

Anthony is *quite* right here that low carb diets such as keto diet to promote autophagy more but prolonged fasting increases it significantly more. For example if I had a cancer, I'd definitely do prolonged fasting and not just rely on eating low carb but during re-feed I'd be low carb.

It’s true but autophagy gets better when fasting and also you get a lot of stem cells, hgh and so on 😊

Question: why do i feel an immense benefit while on carnivore if i add real fasting for 72 hours? Energy and healing effects rise very much!

Maybe you don't need to fast on carnivore but i'm sure it's good for the body. Digestion takes a lot of energy. Giving your body a break must be good.

Hi Dr Chaffee…I’ve been carnivore for a year. I woke up with heart rate of 145 beats per mins, mental confusion, diarrhea, super dry mouth…went to ER doc said my PH was too acidic. He asked if I’m on some crazy diet. Told me I was in metabolic keto acidosis & that my body was dumping electrolytes & the only way to stop it from happening is to stop the diet. I know I’ve struggled with electrolytes even tho I drink them everyday & salt my meat. Thoughts on why blood goes too acidic for some (like me) but not others like you, Jordan Peterson, good daughter etc?
P.S I do carnivore cause I have Hoshimotos & took my anti bodies from 1500 to 84 in a year. 😀

I got healthy eating only fatty red meat (beef and lamb). But tonight the guests have demanded chicken so I am frying chicken legs in tallow. I know the Omega 6 and Oxalate from the grain feed is bad but it's only one meal.
My EF is 66% because of a clean carnivore way of life.
