Hello Craig, I like your philosophical point of view and agree 100% !! It is good to hear an expert like you say this, so it’s easier for guys like me not to buy the biggest and fastest stuff. Unfortunately pupils needn’t wear facial mask in the classroom any more, so it’s getting harder to stay safe ! But apart from that I’m doing good and am enjoying your videos. Thanks for your work and I hope you’re doing good too! All the best!!

I agree, the majority of users will not notice any difference. I like your analogy when comparing your 2012 Mac Mini to your M1, except in video editing (big difference when exporting - the M1 will blow it out of the door), the typical user will not see a difference, IMHO. Good video. As a side note; I just purchased an original MacBook Air 2008, in the original box and the unit looked new; including the insides, as I removed the bottom cover, not a spec of dust - cost $70.... The latest OS that it can run is Lion and it is impractical to use the system with the OS. However; I repurposed the MacBook Air and installed CloudReady (Google's Chromium OS). It's done wonders for the unit. Basically, I have a new MacBook Air, up to today's browser standards. It's not 100%, has a glitch or two, but does the work. Modern software is available using Chrome Web Store... My next leap is to install CloudReady on a 2010 Mac Mini 2.4GHz - Intel Core 2 Duo processor and I'm sure it will perform super well. Nothing like repurposing older Macs. No benchmarking on this two old Macs. lol

I have a 2018, 2.3 Quad that turns the heat on after 20 minutes...the fan doesn't turn on so I have to turn it on with the Mac Fan Control...I cannot leave the laptop on my lap because it gets so hot...I hope updating for me allows me to NOT have a 200-degree Macbook Pro on my lap.
