I am brand new to moonology/ astrology. What is the significance of the signs that are on each day on the journal/calendar how do you use that info?

It's hard for me to start reading my Rising sign and not my Sun sign that I have identified with all my life.
Libra Rising; Sun in Cancer; Moon in Aquarius. But I will try.
