Syrian rebels capture most of Aleppo in sudden offensive

Armed Syrian rebels are making rapid advances across the country, in the biggest challenge to President Assad in years.

They began by advancing from the town of Idlib into Aleppo province and have now taken over most of Aleppo city.

The city had been under full state control since government forces backed by Russia and Iran pushed the rebel groups out in 2016.

In the last few days President Assad was believed to be in Moscow for talks with Vladimir Putin.

Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) started as Jabhat al-Nusra, previously known as Al-Qaeda. The U.S. rebranded the group to avoid the embarrassment of being exposed for supporting a terrorist organization, all while continuing to use it as a proxy against Syria. This rebranding allowed it to serve as a tool in the U.S. and Israeli regime change policy in Syria.

Turkey has supported groups like Ahrar al-Sham and others, which once had connections to Al-Qaeda but now present themselves as more independent. These groups are used by Turkey primarily to fight Kurdish forces in Syria.

I remember when the Syrian war started. I used the believe they were rebels trying to free Syria from Bashar. Little did I know they want to turn all of Syria into a Muslim caliphate. What makes who a rebel and the other a terrorist ??

As a Moldovan me and my mum ran away to Syria around 2000, it was a much nicer country than Moldova at the time, better economy, safer and it was very open minded especially in Damascus. The people were so nice and open and as I was the only blond kid in the area people would give me fruit, sweets, pat my head etc man what a shame seeing this footage.
