I studied with this book when I was in 8th grade (year 2008) and remembered that my dad brought me his own book that he had studied when he was at university some 25 years before that, and even then it was a "new book". You can imagine how many generations of kids and university students have studied this book already xD

The "algebra de Baldor" book it is very popular In south America, I used to have an older version with Al-Khwarizmi in the front cover, we used to believe that was Baldor but it wasn't. Alongside with that book there is the "Algebra de Mancil" which was widely used alongside with Baldor's Algebra when I was on high school

Gonna buy this book, im in calculus 3 and my algebra is weak and i can tell its really holding me back from greatness. Thank goodness i know enough spanish to understand the book

Those after-school evenings doing problems with the baldor by my side gave me the endurance to face calculus problems later on. One could say this book is only the algebra part of a pre-calculus book. Intensive but worth the effort.

So today a math tutor was telling me when he came to the US from Mexico he went straight into Calculus. I immediately asked if he used the Baldor book in Mexico and the answer was yes. Now, he is going to Mexico for Christmas and if he can find his old Baldor book he will pass it on to me!
Fingers crossed he actually pulls it off, I will gladly gift him a dozen fine Tennessee Red Cedar pencils from the Musgrave pencil factory in exchange. Come on Lucky Christmas! 🤓

Big up to you Maths Sorcerer, on being so keen to share Maths across all books possible

You should do a video where you show off math books that have answers to every single problem in the back. I feel like that would be super helpful to math beginners.

Al-Khwarizmi on the cover. The very first algebra book I was introduced to and what inspired me to study mathematics. Brings great memories. Thanks a lot for showing it!!

This looks like an amazing skill builder. Its effects aren't truly noticed till a few months after finishing with this subject, then moving to a harder one. Suddenly that hard calculus problem, which may require some reducing on the level of these fractional exponents, becomes light years simpler. This is the case with any well-written book involving an intense workout. Also, this depends on the brain: if the brain is like mine which forgets nearly as much as it remembers, then these effects may not be as stark or even barely noticeable at all.

My dad bought me this book a couple years go. He explained to me that he used it in high school. As I begin to learn calculus I think it would we a great tool to sharpen my algebra skills.

They recently came out with a new edition of all three books: Algebra, Geometria y Trigonometria, and Aritmetica. I believe they cost about $30 USD each here in Mexico City.

i have this book since highschool, its staple piece in latin america education. My version has the arab dude, everybody thought that the guys name was Baldor. Baldor is a cuban mathematician.

I used this book in Mexico in the 1st year of High school. Nowadays I think they use it in Junior High School. Baldor is a Cuban math teacher.

Wow! Some real 'drill and kill' exercises there! 😃

The old editions is so much better in so many senses. Lots of less mistakes in the answers, smells way better and has a better taste in its aesthetic, but it was so good that even the new edition rocks. Nonetheless, if you can, I recommend you to get the older version.
And yes, Baldor is so iconic that literally EVERYONE knows about Baldor even if they have nothing to do with math 'cause literally everyone that had to go through middle school and/or high school had to use Baldor. So much that entire generations (mine included) just directly inherited the editions from our parents, didn't even have to buy it.

The guy on the cover of the Algebra book is not Aurelio Baldor. I am sure Aurelio Baldor is not on the cover on any edition of his books. (Aritmética, Álgebra, and Geometría y Trigonometría).

Note: ax + bx + ay + by
You were pronouncing the Spanish letter "y" as in the Spanish version of the word "and". The letter pronunciation is the older "i griega" or the now officially common "ye".

Edit: Yes, the three books are the standard for Spanish speaking countries, which also helps in vocabulary augmentation in Mathematics.

I learned with that book in 1981 - 1982, the geometry book too, years later somebody gave me the arithmethics one. They are very well written, it is hard NOT to understand math with it.
Edit: it was very popular in those years here in Venezuela, right now i am not sure.

I was thinking lately how much calculus can be found in Algebra. Like linear equations on a graph. The more I've been doing calculus and algebra, I can see calculus in the algebra. My Spanish is not good. I know a little Spanish, but I'd prefer to have that book in English. Note on the Spanish: I can understand it better if I read it than if someone is speaking it to me.. Wish I could speak Spanish better than I do. Tried so many times to teach myself Spanish. Actually, I don't think it matters what language a math book is. I might just get that book regardless its only in spanish. I can read Spanish somewhat well. I'm not the best at Spanish, but I actually think I could work my way through a math book written in spanish.

This famoubook has helped many generations of students . Good pronunciation
(By the way, the better you are at Spanish, the quicker you will understand Portuguese.)

Literally you do 2:10 in around calc 2 and beyond. Algebra is everywhere more than any other math, might as well learn it and get good at it.
