Jezebel's Hair

When the Latter Rain revival transitioned from an event to a movement, many new faces entered the Healing Revival circuits, and even more new churches were planted. In William Branham's home State of Indiana, for example, led by Assemblies of God minister and Branham supporter Roy H. Wead, a new Assemblies of God church was planted every single month for thirteen straight years. Indiana was considered a “Rogue State” by the Assemblies for their support of Latter Rain due to what they considered to be heretical doctrine.

Expositional preaching in the movement was nearly non-existent. Instead of expounding upon passages in the Bible, many ministers introduced their new revelations and tried to find scattered verses — even if only one single verse that was taken out of context — to support their claims. Worse, because many of them considered themselves to be new prophets or apostles under the Five Fold Ministry doctrine, their listeners considered their statements to come with spiritual authority and did not critically examine their use of Scripture. As a result, some of the new doctrines were both metaphorically and sometimes literally re-writing the stories in the Bible. Such is the case with William Branham’s altered story of Jezebel. Branham was against cosmetics and used Jezebel as his example.

Jezebel of the Old Testament led Israel into idolatry, and that idolatry included human sacrifice. There was no greater evil. Her death represents the punishment for idolatry and human sacrifice, but leaders of the movement claimed that because a verse states that she painted her face, God punished her for cosmetics. Yet nothing in the surrounding text of the story mentions painting her face as evil, while it clearly describes the idolatry. Listeners did not critically examine and accepted re-writing the text as new scripture, not even considering the other things that she did in that same verse. As she prepared herself for the confrontation, she also fixed her hair. But because Branham had no issue with women fixing their hair, this was not mentioned. Interestingly, other passages used to support the cosmetic doctrine, such as 1 Timothy 2:9-10, also mentioned hair, William Branham’s cult of personality has no interest in learning the real context of Scripture because of his alleged authority on scripture.

I have a friend in the message that believes you can't dance for the LORD. Although she will do it if her husband is not home. She also omits to tell him things that she knows will make him mad. I once asked her " is that not considered lying?"
Her answer " it's only a little white lie".
She believes every word of WB and tosses out what the scripture teaches us!
I believe it's because that lying and deceiving spirit WB cast onto this message. Along with misogyny, racism, communism and a bunch of others. We as followers of Jesus Christ need to pray that this spirit of the message is broken up so the children of GOD that dwell in this message can be set free.
The work you are doing Mr. Collins is helping do exactly that. God has shown you the truth and set you free. I am so glad! Keep up the work. I thank you. I am sure this has not been an easy road for you. May God continue to open the door to the lies and deception of WB.
May God give you and others like you the strength to endure.

Wow…the exact same…is happening now! Little or no accountability…cherry picking scriptures out of context to embellish their humble beginning stories, , , or wealth transfer, ..or…or….Some call it NAR…the NAR deny they exist. Those in this “ movement” emphasize the Prophetic…and trips to the Throne Room. so it seems the Latter Rain tentacles are still alive, well, and reaching out into thousands of meetings ..a century later!
