The FUNNIEST Season of SpongeBob SquarePants (part 1)

Looking back on SpongeBob SquarePants, it's honestly hard to pick a favorite season. I know my favorite lies somewhere within seasons 1-3 for sure. I always thought that by default it was season 1 because you can't beat the original. However, when I finished my my review of season 1, I couldn't help but think about how flawlessly they transitioned from season 1 through to season 2. It really felt like in a lot of ways, season 2 picked up right where season 1 left off but at the same time, season 2 felt new and fresh all on it's own. Aesthetically, it had made a pretty big shift, but as far as the shows roots go, everything stayed relatively the same, save for the fact that they upped the comedy factor by at least 3x. There's just something about the humor in season 2 of SpongeBob that really hits so much harder than season 1 did comedically. Don't get me wrong, season 1 was hilarious, but as they stepped forward into season 2, they really decided to kick it up a notch. On top of that, there really is just so much that makes it such a special season. That's why today, on our nostalgic walk down memory lane, we're embarking on a journey. It's a journey that feels relatively familiar, yet new all at the same time. It's one that I've been preparing for for months now. Grab a snack, grab a drink, and get comfy because today, we're diving back down to Bikini Bottom to check out Season 2 of SpongeBob SquarePants.

Fun Fact: the French Narrator is based on the Famous French Oceanographer and filmmaker Jacques Cousteau in the 1960’s. Stephen Hillenberg used to watch his documentaries as kid which inspired him to become a marine biologist. Jacques is usually photographed red cap. In Mimic Madness when SpongeBob is impersonating the French narrative, he’s dressed up just like him. It’s little things like that make me love that SpongeBob.

The early seasons were so iconic. If The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie ended up being the actual end to the series, it would've definitely been bittersweet. It would've been sad to have such an iconic series end, but it at least it would've ended on a high note rather than having it become a series that became a shell of its former self later on.

The funny thing that I've taken away from Something Smells is the scene when SpongeBob is screaming "I'm ugly, and I'm proud!"
You then get a quick shot to Squidward sunbathing on his roof, musing, "Is that what he calls it?". To anyone in the LGBT community, or a straight ally like myself, you get a little chuckle from it
