Hi James, I made the decision to buy a series 1. Have had it for nearly a year and couldn’t be happier. I have spent the money on all the extra gadgets . The slow roller must be something special though as you keep raving about it. Maybe in the future, or if my wife lets me, I will upgrade. Keep up the great work

I bought a Classic Series 1 a few years ago out of convenience (and some ignorance) since it was at Lowes. I did have a tinge of buyers remorse since it didn’t have some of the newer features, but I still absolutely love my KJ. I’m really excited to see all installments in this series and what little buyers remorse I did have is gone after this video. Thanks as always!

Separately, would you consider doing a video outlining what a singular basket of coal can do? Meaning: start with a brisket, then make some armadillo eggs, finish with some chicken. I ask because for those of us who only have a classic, how can we make enough food for a party using a single Joe with that one full basket of charcoal…to maximize the food output and the fuel. The sequence I mentioned worked for me, but I am wondering if you had any additional ideas of what sequences of cooks could work…with the outcome feeding a backyard bash :)

That is funny, have a classic 1 and just got the slo roller and yesterday i started looking at the double indirect setup for a brisket (that is now ongoing). I found out the extra space of the 3 series comes handy for this but there is a way to make it happen nonetheless ( bye bye smokeware drip pan though :( ) anyway found it a funny coincidence that your video speaks of exactly the subject i was figuring out, on the same day.... Thank you for all the tips.

Hi James, I’ve had the KJ Classic III for over three years now and love it. I’ve been on the fence for some time now to buy the Big Joe III. Well, after watching this video, I sold the Classic III to a very nice couple and bought the Big Joe III. I’m only a few cooks in now and loving the extra real estate, how much easier it is to control the temperature. Thanks for the videos and pushing me over the side. Happy grilling!!!!

WOW!!! I'm so glad you got this!! We have decided to buy the Big Joe 1, as I really couldn't see the extra cost for the others. I've been using an Acorn for 10+ years and it finally surcumbed to rust which is why we started looking. I was going for the classic but after seeing the camparison I was sold on the Big Joe! I can't wait to see you cooking on this one, In about a month I'll be ordering mine!!!! Thanks so much for sharing your videos with us! I also have a BJC 1 and really love it. But definitely want to see you attempt a double indirect on it.
Been debating if the slo roller would do well or even fit this model. If it works ill probably get one this year 👍

I bought a Big Joe series 1, new in the box, from FB traders for $500..added the control top and Kick Ash basket...also bought the Joe Jr for small cooks..love them both! My neighbor like the cooks so well, he bought a Classic 1. All this from your channel..thanks James for the input!

When I saw this new video this morning I was very curious as to what could possibly be worth getting you to sell your KJC3 for. So when the towel came off I must admit I was picking my jaw up off the floor in shock that it was for a BJC1 😲. I had to do a double take lol. But once you started explaining why you did it I understood your reasoning. If you are going to answer questions about it having used one makes that much easier. But I'm still surprised 😄 lol.
