Replacing a lifetime grill by one that will become obsolete instead of just getting a Thermoworks billows or something?

I've found my Big Joe III keeps such a constant temperature that I literally have never used the temp-blower I bought for it. It's more consistent than my electric (Cookshack) smoker.

Almost, the KJ Connected Joe is based on the KJ Classic 2. The KJ 3 has different dimensions and is taller then the KJ2 for example. Because of the extended hight the KJ3 intriduces the 3 tier cooking levels and works better with the JoeTisserie, more hight between the rotisserie and the heat. To set temperatures on the KJ is easy, I would therefor choose the KJ3 over the connected anytime 👍🏻👍🏻

I prefer the Big Joe Series 3 over the konnected joe because I do like to control my fires manually and not have a machine tell me what to do. I know it can be ran without. My friend he had the konnected joe and within a month the control fan went out and so did the automatic fire starter because moisture got into the controller. that was probably due to him not having a cover for it and cooking in the rain.

€ 2, 300 is
No. Not at all.
My grill is amazing and it’s $175 I’ve had it for about 12 years.
It’s a giant R2D2 style Trail Embers Water smoker grill combo. It’s almost 5 foot tall. Or approximately 1.5 meters tall. It has a 28” across round cooking surface. It has three grill racks and can be loaded on 3 levels. Two levels and the water pan is the most practical for smoking. It holds a lot of food. My only issue with it is that it did not come stock with stainless steel screws. They can be replaced for under 10$. But for me it’s free because I have salvaged stainless hardware from other projects. I like the quality of these ceramic grills and also I like the efficiency. But the electronics and plastics will be gone before the rest of this grill needs replaced. I liked the analog set up better. But really my comment is that this is NOT a cheap grill at all. It’s in fact one of the most expensive common grills you can buy.

Wow. So do you have to charge it up? Plug it in?

$3200 Canadian 💵 I’ll have to wait a while lol I already hear non stop about my Napoleon Grill costing more than her wedding ring. 😮

I’m afraid to ask, how much are you looking for it.

Or, you could install ceramic inserts into an existing Weber 22" kettle and have pretty much the same performance at a fraction of the cost. Just did mine- $100USD and you're good to go.

Personal opinion

Must go indoors in winter because of the electronics, in 5 years probably version 2/3, taller, new design Slow roller integration etc etc.

I consider it expensive ( same price here in Germany to a fully loaded Classic 3 ) but also susceptible to the elements in the long run and in comparison 🤷🏽‍♂️

I'll start off by saying, that it being the same price is a major plus to the brand, honestly.

The only drawbacks I see are in terms of long-term usage.

-Is the computer something you can swap out at a later date when it dies? because we all know it will die at some point.
-Is the heating element something you can swap out at a later date too? because that too will 100% die.
-Is the whole BBQ built the same as the classic? I see on the lower half it has a black skirt, does it have plastic anywhere that will rack over time? Is the inside built to the same standards? Is the ceramic as thick as the classic?

All these questions only really matter 5-10+ years in the future, but if they are not things you can swap out and fix then I think honestly getting a classic Joe that is built like a tank and WILL last a lifetime and getting a 3rd party temp regulator/blower is the way to go, even if it does cost a little extra upfront. That way you will have full confidence the BBQ will outlive you because there are no electronics that will die in the future.

Ik wil zo graag mijn classic 1 vervangen met de konnected joe maar twee dingen houden me tegen. 1. het is vals spelen 😆en 2. kan het vochtige Nederland aan?

OK, you almost lost me with wanting to dump your KJ. Love the wooden shoes. We are from Northern Europe, but have lived in the States for decades. We all had wooden shoes from visits to Holland. I got mine 63 years ago. They no longer fit?

I don't believe in pellet smokers/grills or auto grills etc. But I might try the one you got rid of
