Neighbor Calls Police on Young Black Girl Using Lanternfly Repellant

‘No kid should have to be scared in their own town [or] on their own street’ — A NJ resident called police on a 9-year-old Black girl using a homemade spotted lanternfly repellant to try and stop the invasive species from harming trees in her neighborhood.

The girl's mother and sister described the ‘traumatic’ experience at a local council meeting.

The caller knew exactly what they were doing. Calling the CHILD a “woman” on the phone, mentioning a hoodie, saying they’re “scared” of the child and what they’re doing yet they don’t fully know what they’re doing or care to find out. Acting like the spray is a poisonous fume being blasted like a smog flamethrower, and we all know if this was a young white girl doing the same thing the wording would be very different, and the phone call most likely wouldnt of even happened.

That disgusting excuse for a human used those words to describe the little girl to the police in the hopes of them coming in hot and killing her. Calls like that should lead to a hate crime charge and conviction if proven it was them that made the call. No way she confused that tiny little girl with a small woman.

An incident like this proves the caller is just as guilty as the officers who respond. 911 call centers should start monitoring calls like this and question the caller if it’s an actual emergency or if they are just jumping to conclusions.

The caller KNEW these kids! He never described them as his neighbors’ kids. He deliberately gave the impression that there were intruders performing some type of illicit activity is his area. That demonstrates the hatred and callousness of the caller.

Yes, there are too many idiots and jerks in this world, but let's focus on what these 2 amazing young girls did in the face of adversity, they rose above and beyond and I'm impressed and they will carry the confidence they gained with this experience into adulthood. I'm rooting for them!

The little girl and her big sister are my heroes. The little girl because she was trying to save our trees and the big sister for defending her sister. The neighbor knew what he was doing and trying to criminalize a child. Just evilness! Thank God the adults involved in this situation were calm, that's the responding officer and the mother.
