Saturated, Unsaturated and Supersaturated Solution | Chemistry

In this animated lecture, I will teach you about saturated solution, unsaturated solution, and supersaturated solution. Also, you will learn that how can we prepare saturated, unsaturated and supersaturated solution.

Q: What is saturated solution?
Ans: A solution which can not dissolve further amount of solute at a particular temperature is called saturated solution.
For example, when you keep adding sugar to the water, a time will reach when no more sugar will dissolve in the water and sugar will settle down at the bottom. This solution is known as saturated solution.

Q: What is unsaturated solution?
Ans: A solution which can dissolve further amount of solute at a particular temperature is called unsaturated solution.
For example, when you take a glass of water and dissolve a spoonful sugar in it. The sugar readily dissolve in the water. So, this solution is unsaturated solution.

Q: What is supersaturated solution?
Ans: A solution which contains more amount of solute than required to saturate it at a particular temperature is called supersaturated solution.
For example, when you raise the temperature of saturated solution, the settled sugar in the water will start dissolving with the passage of time. A time will reach when all the settled sugar will dissolve in the water. Now, this solution is known as supersaturated solution.
