It concerns an ex-con who gets out of prison looking for the $260,000 he hid before he was arrested, and finds unexpected romance with the widow of his former partner in crime.
Nick Harbin is released from California State Prison. He will become the center of everyone's attention because he knows where money he stole in a payroll robbery is hidden. ‘You are not only an ex-con, but you are a Walking Target’, said prison warden. His girlfriend, Susan, is there at the gates throwing herself in his arms, and there's also two detectives, Brodney and his partner, who are on him like a cheap suit under orders to follow his every move. I watched this one about a year ago. Still keeps the attention. I agree with comments below, like. "Check the silencers to see if they are working" and "Solid movie" Worth at least one bag of popcorn if not two. ! thanks for providing. Especially commercial free. Helps to keep the flow of the film.

Absolutely love the character actors and their distinctive "high-mileage" faces in this film --- William Fawcett as "Packy, " (Can you believe in real life he actually held a Ph.D?), Jack Kenney as the Gas Station Owner, whoever played the cab driver with the punched-in nose, Berry Kroeger as Arnie Hoffman, and Guy Wilkerson, as the unfortunate Lank, who never got to own the Gold City Diner.

24:22 : Although he was uncredited, the old man who went by the name of Packy was played by
William Fawcett. He had many guests appearances in western TV series and "B"-grade film noirs,
such as 1955's GANG BUSTERS, when he played a pick-up truck driver who gave an ex-convict
(Sam Edwards) a lecture on morals. Fawcett had been a Ph.D. and also a Professor of Theater
at Michigan State University, soon after WWII ended.

Enjoyed it in the end. Quite solid, with a good scene when Harbin and Gail finally meet in her bar. It helped that Joan Evans was worth going all the way for (without spoiler).
