IF you're going for an LED headlight globe upgrade, make sure the LED chip on the bulb is narrow (thin) as it needs to replicate the light pattern of the usual halogen bulb. Put the halogen bulb next to the LED and you'l see what I mean. A thick, wide chip will throw out scattered light, blinding oncoming traffic and getting you into trouble with the law!

Blinding lights should be illegal, regardless of whether they are halogen, LED or HID. Outlawing LEDs that are safer and aimed correctly altogether makes no sense, keeping Australia a nanny state and in the past.

A lot of the time you can't see on the roads especially around the dark country roads cause stupid people have led lights, it feels like they have there high beams on. So I just high beam them back.

I recently decided to upgrade my ordinary Halogen headlight bulbs with LED one's but came unstuck because when I went to check the regulations out for (New Zealand use) they are illegal!! My garage told me they would not issue a WOF with an older vehicle that has had an upgrade to LED headlights period!! I'm only talking about headlights here not any other vehicle lights. There is no problem with a new vehicle arriving in NZ with builtin LED lights but you cannot change your older vehicle with it's ancient Halogens over to LED/s without breaking the law!! Somebody please correct me if I have interpreted the NZ regulations wrong!!
