I wear all Black because I love the way it makes me look, and I am not a criminal. That is the worst rule I have ever heard. I love watching you all keep up the good work

Haha. My school had that policy. We had a peaceful protest day where most of the students wore all black. It didn’t change anything but it was fun to protest something so stupid.

"MIGHTY SKINNY" for the win!

Went to a school who demanded all piercings were removed because of “hygiene”. Except earrings. 🤦🏻‍♀️ *If anyone licks my tongue or bellybutton at school we have a HUGE problem & it’s not hygiene.*

And no, neither were visible.

I grew up in Bemidji, MN. When the Red Lake shooting happened, my goth friends and I were on the radar by some teachers.

There’s a school in New York where female teachers were to wear pumps with heels a minimum of 2 1/ “ high because they gave them “an air of authority!”

In Texas, I’d be worried about heatstroke. That’s about it.

I thought it was to not have a heat stroke

My kids middle school once tried to color coordinate the kids, so each grade had a different color top and black pants, 8th grade had an all black dress code.. I said nope not doing it... now i regularly wear all black and love it. But I am against uniforms so i take any excuse to say no.

The school I work at doesn’t really have much of dress code for staff or students. I’ve already said that if they make one for staff, I’m dressing head to toe in black every single day of the school year. It’ll be like my own little uniform to protest having to dress a certain way.

I just think that if kids can wear whatever they want, teachers and staff should too. Self expression doesn’t end at age 18.

Our school banned checker patterned items (like the classic Vans that were all the rage at the time). Something about gang symbolism. We lived in a tiny, conservative farm town. 😂

I'm all for self-expression. I spent all of my middle and highschool years being "goth". Tripp pants with chains, corsets, dozens of piercings, and black hair with neon bangs. The stereotypical 2000s goth. But, I do understand the point they're trying to make. And as a parent, can appreciate their efforts. They're grasping at straws, but atleast they're trying to do something! Which is more rhan than most schools are doing. 1.5 mass shootings EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. in this country. I'm not saying being goth makes tou a mass shooter. Don't get that twisted. But it'd be foolish to not acknowledge the fact that in general the "punk" kids are the ones who feel outcast and get bullied. And in general, the shooters typically tend to be those who are bullied. So there is a correlation there. No, not every "punk" kid fits that mold, but a good portion of them do. So yes, their efforts aren't entirely misguided, and atleast they're trying to do something!

That happened in my school back in like 1996 when we all went goth. It was so stupid.

I wasn't allowed to wear a hat or sunglasses in school because "gang affiliation."

We're a small town in Washington state.
