This unfortunately isn't a fix, it's a work around. Our company has hundreds of files with "#" in them. Changing the name of every file is not an option. This has only become a problem recently that needs to be fixed by Adobe. We have reinstalled software which corrects the issue for a period of time. After having worked properly for a while, mine started doing this again today.

Thank you! All of the other fixes I have seen were deleting caches and restoring or repairing software. This was incredibly simple! Strange that it just started happening in the last week.

Preview pane used to work even when file name had #. Is there a way to use preview pane for PDF which file name includes # ?

Thank you for sharing the video.
I've known about the problem with "#" in the filename for quite a long time. However, the real question is: why??

My files don't even include a # so this is no help to me.

Thank you for the quick and simple tutorial, kind sir! If anyone is in need of doing a mass name change to resolve this error on a larger scale, this can be done through regedit.

I am getting the same error in Outlook. It won't show me a preview of a pdf with the pound sign in the filename. I can't seem to find a solution. Please help! Thank you!

Not a fix at all. This suggest to remove the pound sign/hash tag "#" from the filename. SMH
