Powerstop Z23 Brake Test vs Stock 60 to 0

I recently Installed Some Powerstop Z23 Crossdrilled and slotted rotors and the carbon ceramic brake pads.

So I decided to do some 60 to 0 tests to see how much better performance I got. The results weren't the greatest.

Your distances are so inconsistent they tell me absolutely nothing.

just from that test.. 30 feet is 30 feet.. could me life or death to someone in the road in an emergency situation. i just orded the full set of rotor and pads. really eager to see how they do. i really wanted ebc stuff but good lord that stuff is expensive

The numbers make sense to me; the first run the brakes are cold so I wouldn't expect them to perform at peak performance. Second run they're ready to go and should be the best run. Third and any runs after that, the brakes are getting too hot and won't perform as well as the second. Where you should see a major difference is multiple runs after the third comparing the two. The Z23 should endure a bit longer and not have as much fade as the stock. I'd like to see actual world results between stock vs Z23 for both street use and track use but with fresh pads/rotors for both tests.

What about drawing some lines on the road and mount the action cam outside the car to capture the point where the car start to deaccelerate. And then measure the distance from that point to the point where the car stopped. Use that distance together with the speed (can be obtained from obd2 app speed graph) before the deacceleration to calculate the brake force. Then compare these forces of the two brake sets. Oh, guess it's too late since the stock one has been removed.

Awesome video! Just ordered mine for a 2013 Taurus SHO. Never had drilled and slotted rotors before. They look sick though.

I have them on my Corvette Grand Sport and like them. They stop fine and have little brake-dust. I admit I don't track my car. Cheap from Amazon.

Drilled and slotted have less surface area so having the same brake distance is a good thing you don’t want a longer braking distance the more you want your brakes to heat up the performance comes from how quickly they cool a rotor too hot will warp and give you less surface area over time there’s also no good way to cut a slotted rotor

Hey man, how did these things hold up long term? Still any good a year in? Thanks

Time for new brakes on my 01 seville STs stock were over 400, most parts stores only offer ceramic, they never get hot enough for safe stop, in a parking lot are fine.
I called ugh performance parts store. He recommended power stop never heard of them.
Researched the products, decided on Z23 out performing break in procedure. Every stop became shorter and shorter.
The last I stopped so hard seat belt about choked me.
To this day have great pedal feel in a panic stop you stop here and now.
Most of all I dust or noise. Gives one confidence in panic situations.
Now set for my silverado.

I put these on the front side of my lexus is350 awd to test them.... I can tell you that theres a difference, as these are much quieter than the stock at least for lexus....the slotted and drilled style is a plus for the performance.however to real feel the difference, you need tires in very good conditions as the braking system is 50% and the tires hold the other 50%. I'm happy with this product.

Drill and slotted rotor actually lose stopping distance cus your losing surface area .. drill and slotted rotors are for track cars that are over heating brakes but they still suck cus there known for cracks and braking

How does your 2003 Vibe have rear disc brakes?

Did you do the break-in procedure before you did your second test with the power stop brakes. You Never mentioned the break-in procedure. You should've gotten much better performance any of those.

And it also depends on your tires, cheap crap tires take longer to stop your car.

Did you break in the pads and rotors first or just install and do the test?

Could changing the calipers helped more??
