Waze maps and Google maps quick comparison.

Here we have two most popular navgation apps side by side.
Waze Maps
Pros
*Shows Vehicle speed plus current road speed.
*Powered by community owned by Google.
*Easy user interface, easy to report Traffic, crash, incident etc.
* search bar at the bottom of the app so it's easy to put the address.
*Better graphics of maps
*search for petrol station gives current has price too.

Cons:
* works only if you have internet connection, useless if no internet.
* Only 1 stop you can add.

Google Maps

pros:
* Now you can report crash and speed cam on Google maps.
*Standard maps with plenty of local info, business, traffic, event, roadworks.
*Ability to download maps.
* Offline navgation when no internet connection, provided you have downloaded area beforehand.
* Voice search is excellent , Google is very good at listening.
*Speed alert and speed cam coming soon.

Cons:
*Need to refresh the UI, not easy to use.
*roll out speed cam alert and speed limit to all Google maps apps.

Found this video while looking for solutions and confirmations to how Google runs. My preferred satnav is Here Maps which I have on my old Windows phone and Samsung S8. It is very similar TomTom and gives prompt directions. Unfortunately in June 2019 the Windows version of Here stopped supporting live traffic. Another advantage is the directions are repeated promptly, unlike Google. Google still not showing speeds like Here and Waze, and my phone is on android pie 9 with June update! Waze looks a bit cartoon graphically. I prefer Google and Here. Google offline is more limited compared to Here and Me maps. If you only download certain areas of say London, and go into a very poor reception area not covered in the download, Google and Waze will be useless while Here and Me will only lose traffic alerts. Here and Me download all of England with option to download additional countries. Useful for when you go abroad and don't have roaming!
Overall I will use Google in an emergency or if linked to an appointment or stored address.

I see that no one here has pointed out the most apparent pro of Google, lane assist! :) You know well beforehand which lane you should remain/switch to before big junctions or roundabouts; priceless!

side by side comparison is clever - but having two voice instructions simultaneously with your dialogue is terrible. try to do some editing next time and this would be much better

That old Google Maps was my favorite, but you can't play the old version anymore which is sad because that was my favorite version

Waze also allows you to have multiple stops. You just pick your end destination, then search for your next destination and then it prompts you to indicate 'add a stop' or 'new drive'.

Google maps has become total garbage. It constantly locks up and now wants you to double click, nothing about it is intuitive since its last 2 updates. Google Maps is no longer customer-friendly, much like Google itself which considers all humans nothing more than a number.

There is a trick for waze offline. If you have already done that route in the past it will actually save offline. Or instead just open your route on waze with wifi then close it.

I Got message when hit Gas Prices icon: "Something went wrong. You can't update gas prices until you drive 100 miles and reach the Waze Grown-Up level. What's the hell is that?

Whee i live Waze shows speed cameras and police and construction and pot holes. I do not see the same in Google maps.

Google maps has lane assist and allows you to play your own music. I have no idea why waze doesn't. Also I hear that once you set a route it downloads it so it doesn't bog out as much. If waze could play my music on my phone then I might use it

Through a recommendation from a friend, I started using Waze but after a while the routes it started showing were so weird or complicated compared to the best/fastest/simplest routes that Google Maps would show. I might give it another shot but idk
