ippo is also very much inspired or similar from iron mike tyson. Only they both are different in nature but the life story and fighting style of mike tyson and main character makunouchi ippo from hajime no ippo is same.

There's also some obvious comparison's in fighting style between Ryo Mashiba and Tommy Hearns, Billy McCallum and Floyd Maywather Jr., Takuma Saeki and Pernell Whittaker, Sendo and a bit of Rocky Marciano as well as Joe Yabuki from Ashita no Joe (plus as Ruddock as mentioned), Alfredo Gonzalez and Juan Manuel Marquez, and Ippo is kind of a hyprid of Mike Tyson and Floyd Patterson with a touch of Jack Dempsey.

Here are my additions

Sawamura = Ike Quartey (strong af jabs) or probs Wladimir Klitschko, who also has a similar jab and right straight.

Imai Kyosuke = Micky Ward. A relentless pressure fighter that has no fucking defense but will absolutely cut you down if you trade punches with him.

Randy Boy, Jr. = Nonito Donaire, Jr. Both are switch hitters, able to fight in either southpaw or orthodox, but Donaire rarely does that anymore. Hell, I'd say he's Terence Crawford, but I think Crawford wasn't well known yet around the time Randy was introduced in the series.

Malcolm Gedo = Floyd Mayweather (based on his obsession with money lol)

Alfredo Gonzalez = Erik Morales (Can box and brawl if he wants to. Alf's match with Ippo defo reminded me of Morales' 1st fight with PacMan. Erik outboxed Manny that fight and was ahead of the scorecards but decided to recklessly brawl with him southpaw style in the last round for some reason)

Richard Bison = definitely Thomas Hearns since the character himself is from Detroit.

Keith Dragon = Closest I can think of is Andre Ward. Both are lefties that uses the Orthodox stance. Also, both fighters were champions in the Super Middleweight division. And I guess they also have a connection with "God"? Keith claims that his second is the goddess of fortune because of his unbelievable luck while Ward's ringname is S.O.G (Son of God) because he's a religious man.

- David Eagle IS oscar, but he's also Donny Lalonde, look him up it's exactly the same face and Donnie was also called 'Golden Boy'
- I know it can't be 'inspired' because he's a recent fighter, but Miyata Fighting style is a lot like Ryan Garcia. Not much fast combination but the punch by itself especially the jab is lightning fast. (also has his dad on his corner lmao)
- I'd say Takamura is Roy Jones, slick, fast, strong, cheated instincts,
- Ippo is definitely Mike Tyson (not the personality or the visual, but the style is 100%)
- Mashiba is Hearns no question no cap
- Wally could be a Pernell Whitaker
- Sawamura -> Valero, student of the game, but thug outside
- Ryuchi Hayami has a fighting style like Amir Khan. Hyper fast blinding combination, no defense and no chin.
