Those are Xiao Long Bao or little soup dumplings. Costco has pretty good ones if you don't live near a restaurant that makes em fresh to compare lol.

Hey! Those are Chinese! They are called xiao lun bao! I don’t know much mandarin put I’m half American and half Chinese!

I didn't know you had to place them directly into water. I thought you placed them in a bowl in the water because they're supposed to be steamed and not boiled. I don't know how to say it in English as there is no English equivalent. I know these are also called dumplings but these are different than the ones you boil in water. These are closer to a bun with fillings.

I recommend eating dumplings with borscht like a soup, it perfectly compliments their flavour making them way better.

Xiaolong bao, I tried it in China and it was the best although in China is pan fried to be crispy on the outside so that makes a huge difference in how great it is

Instead of just popping it in the wrapper and letting the soup flow out, I recommend placing the dumpling into a spoon, popping it and taking small sips of it while still hot. Then, once sufficiently cool(or when you don't care about burning your mouth), slurp up the remaining dumpling :P
