I wouldn’t mind it if they played Orion twice. I was there and was in absolute awe of having the chance to hear it live.

Their mistakes mean that they are only human. I can appreciate that.

This mistake is actually GOLD. It just gave a new Ktulu vibe to the beginning of the distortion part of the song

2023 - Lars is still ignoring bass players.

The mistakes just mean their not lip sinking or useing backing track like alot of other bands are rumored to be.

When I was at the show i knew it was Ktulu from the intro but when they started i noticed there was something strange, now that explains it all

I'm actually very impressed with how quickly he switches to Kthulu

The way he leapt down the hole and just started playing it as it came up was so fucking cool

Everybody's impressed by how quickly he recovered, and here I am, amazed by his tone. Seriously, that sounded EXACTLY like the album tone.

Saw them in 1998 (I think), Australia. Kirk dropped his slide mid solo - just laughed, acknowledged the jeers, chased it across the stage, picked it up and got on with it. Yeah we all mess up sometimes. Was cool to see how casual he was about it.

The reason of the fail would probably "Orion was the opening song for day 1" and "The call of Ktulu was opening song for day 2", but still. Such a different way to start the show .. :D

I remember in 2017 seeing them at mile high and it got postponed due to lightning and kirk came out playing the starting riff to ride the lightning after the storm and it was so epic

James Hetfield said on Rogan podcast that the whole point of seeing a band live is to witness the raw mistakes.

It makes the entire set unique and once in a lifetime event.

This is more than a treat, it's more than a simple missed note or wrong key.

It's a time stamp no one will forget and they all got to share the experience together in unison and it will never be played in the exact way again.

People who don't make mistakes aren't giving it their all in the moment imo.

Any musician who says they haven't started the wrong song is lying 😂 It makes you want to crawl in a hole. He recovered, that's what counts.
