I’d sand it with 2500 grit and some water before applying the base coat then repeat the process with 2500 grit and water then put clear then buff it with some polish the result would be much better, I had rock chips on my front bumper and hood of a black car and did the same process and it was near perfect from 6 inches away. If you try it out then remember not to put pressure on the sandpaper and try to get only around the chip because you’ll make a pit in your paint just take your time go slow and check your work

Has the paint touch ups held up since this video? Did they reflake?

The gouge and scratch in your paint in front of your mirror is highlighted because that rock dented the metal, but when you step away after applying the paint, it isn't so bad. There isn't much you can do for the dent, but I think the paint looks great. They have a product that has both the brush and pen all in one that might have probably given a smoother application. The brush being for really big spots, and the pen for smaller ones. I'm glad you found an economic way to fix your car up. Now I have to hit up my Subie after a rough tussle with some downed trees on a back road. I can see how using the pen might be a better option for me than using the brush, but since I'm probably not going to stop trailblazing, I'm going to get the brush/pen combo. Wish me luck 😅

A handful of these problems could have been resovled with a machine polish. The scratch on the door, and the bird dropping, etc.
