this method works for like 99% of things outside of the guitar as well, but before y'all say anything.

Scales, Solo'ing, muting, new fingerstyle pattern, new picking method, tapping, harmonics, etc. are all examples of new "techniques". Keep in mind, if you ignore them for a while, your speed on them goes down. What you learn is never permanent if you ignore it in training.

Learn music theory & jazz if you hate yourself, flamenco & metal are the respective Dark Souls of the guitar, if you catch yourself hating it in your either on the path to quitting or the path to becoming the next Marcin. discipline is the deciding factor.

Sight reading is a skill that came naturally to me, in that same regard there are some things you'll be better & worse at. literally, just keep it mostly enjoyable & try not to stagnate, it all comes with time.
