This video features a typical Victorian Railways 1970s consist of wooden carriages hauled by T356 a Victorian Railways liveried locomotive from the same era.

The heritage tour featuring locations through Melbourne's northern suburbs was run by Steamrail Victoria. Known as the whY not heritage tour as steam locomotive Y112 was supposed to lead the train. Due to mechanical issues at the last minute, T356 joined the consist instead.

Here is T356 and the train consist. See you next Sunday for more trains - Brenden S

No quite, the South Australian cars were not in Victoria in the 1970s. But close enough.

Gees that T would have struggled up the hills. I went on the Gippslander one day around 1980. Was quick to Traralgon where they swapped the L class for a T class then it struggled on anything resembling a hill.

Another great video. I was on that trip and was actually enjoying it until the usual idiots among the "enthusiasts", started carrying on like fools, giving others a bad name, as many people think that all those interested in rail history and heritage trains, are all "tarred with the same brush". Thankfully they are not, but people can't be blamed for wondering at times.
